WM gives a pretty decent advantage to early candidates; I think the admit rate is about 40-50%? and the regular about 30%? I'm not quite sure what percentage of the freshman class the ED pool is however. johnst - the wm website? it is pretty annoying, I could never find anything I needed on it - or it would send me to a dead link.
melend - meee tooo haha! but my family already has bumper stickers for pretty much every car we own, my brother's a junior there. but I refused to get anything for myself until I heard from them, so I wouldn't jinx it ;)

I can't wait until august 19!!! ahhhhhhhhhh
263 DAYS! what's sad is that I probably added that up wrong because I can't do arithmetic, but yay William and Mary doesn't care because they took me anyway!

for those wondering about stats for admission, over the summer i emailed the admissions office wondering what my chances are and here's what i found out. all though it varies year by year the ED admit rate for instate is around 50% while out of state is like 35%. they admit around 1/3 of their incoming class ED. RD admit rate instate is around 45% and outof state is around 25% therefore making the overall admit rate the 35%. Email the admissions office if you'd like to confirm. Matt Joose is the one who replied to me and gave me the stats. hope it was helpful to someone.

wow. early decision out-of-state is only 35%? I thought the average was 54; not in-state 50%. that makes me relieved I got in off the early round!!! ahhh I really want to go visit campus now knowing that's where I'll be next year... maybe I'll take the train down :)

Hi everybody. My best friend just returned from a visit to W&M, and he said that this school suits me well. Here are my stats. What do you think my chances are?

I live in a small rural town of about 15,000 people in the Texas Panhandle, and I absolutely hate Texas. That's why I am applying out of state.
-ranked 1 out of approximately 175 people
-SAT 680m/730v/1410 composite
-30 on ACT
-SAT II Writing 730
-I have taken the most rigorous courses available at my school despite its limitations. I'll graduate with 6 APs.
-President of my school's chapter of National Honor Society
-I have good ECs (band, yearbook, academic team, latin club), most of which I hold leadership positions in
-I've won several awards based on academics, leadership, and community service
-Pretty good essays

hey does anyone know the acceptance rate for the undergraduate business program or any of the statistics... I know its a two- year program that you apply soph year.. is it very competitive? thNKS!

Is anyone else feeling really lazy now that they're accepted? I already had a really bad case of senioritis, but now it's getting really bad. I'm trying to stay concentrated on my school work so that my grades don't drop, but high school's such a drag--even my AP teachers are babying me this year, and it's just getting annoying. I hope my grades don't drop, or they might rescind my acceptance. :(

Once you send in your midterm report are you home free? A friend of mine got into Tech, and he said once the semester ends in a few weeks, high school's pretty much over for him because his midterm report will have been sent in. I don't plan on letting my grades go to hell, but it'd be nice to just worry about maintaining a B average.

I believe this year, move in for freshman was on a friday, and then saturday - tuesday was orientation, and wednesday the 25th was the first day of classes.

The campus shop is very popular with WM kids, we get 20% off.

holden_g, I can say that many kids in my senior class last year slacked off a lot after the semester. I think I scored a cool gpa under 3 for my 3rd quarter, so then I had to step it back up for 4th, to keep a respectable gpa for the year (as I did really well first semester). It's a very common occurance. Just don't blow it too much, b/c colleges offers are "based on the continuation of academic achievement exhibited in the application" or something along those lines. It doesn't happen to many people, but it does happen.

I know exactly what you mean holden. I'm not really going to completely slack... ;) but I'm also not going to freak out if I get 4 Bs, you know? sometimes I still don't believe I am in college. well, that I know where I am going and all. it's such a relief, all my friends are sooooo jealous!

I've got four As and three Bs right now. :( Last year I had straight As, but not this year. It's that damn AP Music Theory class; it takes up so much of my time, and I don't have time to study for my other classes.

holden_g and undecided - I feel exactly the same way. As if I'm in this limbo between high school and college but the former just isn't done throwing me around yet.

I like being able to ease up on the academic masochism.

Music theory? I know few people who can get As in that class (sounds like it's killer at your school, too).

AP Spanish is what threatens to do me in daily. DIE SUBJUNCTIVE DIE.

haha. ap euro is the death of me. I can get away with not doing anything because I'm friendly with the teacher but it gets sooooooooo boring. and I've given up on ap calc too. hahaha oh I love being accepted to college... I am already planning dorm shopping. extremely sad, isn't it?

undecided358: i'm already looking at stuff already too!!!

ap calc is what's killing me but i think i have a b.

do we have to send in the midterm report and the final transcripts? The packet made it seem like all we have to do is submit the final transcript at the end of the year.

Just make sure to remind him/her when the time comes near.

I'm doing the best I can to keep caring about school, but it's just not working. Since our calculus teacher doesn't grade homework assignments, I haven't done a single one since I got my acceptance letter. I've also given up in Physics. The only class that I really care about at all is English, and that's simply because it's my favorite subject and what I plan on majoring in.

I'll be able to keep above a 3.5 without too much effort, but there's no way I'll have a 4.0 at the end of this year. No way in hell.

hahahahahahaha. 4.0 haha. that is sooo not ever happening. I am planning on 3 Bs, 4 As. what is the worst they will still accept? as in, enough to get you not rescinded. would they rescind for like, Bs and Cs? not that that will happen :) but potentially...
