So what are my chances of getting into University of Wisconsin-Madison as an out-of-state student from Illinois with these credentials...

-3.3 GPA unweighted out of 4 (thats a B avg.)

-28 ACT (taking it again to hopefully bring it up a bit)

-Founder/President of Investment Club

-Member of Business Club, Broadcasting Club, and Investment Club

-Take all Honors classes and have taken 3 AP's.

-Electives- Broadcasting 4 years, AP Computer Science 1 year

No... gpa way too low and ACT is average. I would put you in the reachy category.

So what if i got my ACT up to a 30, how much better of a situation would i be in then?

Still not great, you need a 32+ to try to outweigh that lowww gpa, especially out of state.

Your act is fine, I got in with a 27. If you raise the GPA up a little bit, you should be ok. Won't be 100%, but I wouldn't classify it as a reach.

It is definitely a reach shady. He has a 3.3 for goodness sake.

i think your ecs will help quite a bit (you founded a club...). also, dont let peoples comments discourage you. 3.3 UNWEIGHTED gpa is not at all something to be ashamed of, i think you have a very decent chance

Chaudoinker89, where are you from? You are clearly oblvious to the admission standards of the University of Wisconsin. Here, we know that to have a good shot at admission, one must score a 28+ on the ACTs AND have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.6.

there are many intangibles in the college admissions process i.e. interviews
obviously, a person of your character has little to no chance of making a good impression during one

I don't think I've ever heard of Wisconsin interviewing students as part of the admissions process.

Unfortunately, Wisconsin has to place more emphasis on GPA/test score numbers because of its great size (like many state universities).

i wasnt specifically talking about wisconsin, just trying to show andrw how vile he is to many people

Chaudoinker, who do you think you are? Some high brow little teenager who thinks he's got all the answers? For the record there is no way you will get into UVA with your stats and your attitude.

high brow little teenager?
who on this forum isnt a teenager?
and as for the little part im 6 foot 5

People underestimate Wisconsin a lot. In reality, it is a very competitive school for out of state applicants. It is #34 in the nation according to Newsweek and has an SAT range of 1180-1370, which will surely increase this year. As an out of stater, the OP must have mid 1300's combined with a decent GPA (3.5+) in order to be accepted.

A kid from my school with a 3.2 UW GPA/2260 SAT was postponed, which just shows that GPA is the primary factor in college admissions.

I have a feeling that the OP will be postponed and then subsequently rejected, UNLESS he brings up the ACT and/or GPA.

Thank you CCRunner123 for reiterating my point. Some people don't understand that Wisconsin is a darn good school and fairly hard to get into!
