Chances at Wisconsin, USC, Illinois, Tulane

I have a 3.4 unweighted gpa with a pretty good upward trend with a 32 act score. My ec’s are pretty good, nothing too impressive though. My essays are very well written in my opinion and my recommendations will be good as well.also I’m first generation college if that makes a difference. I’m just not sure if I can get in because of my gpa.
I’m also trying to major in mechanical engineering.

Thanks!

Wisconsin, Illinois - Match

Tulane - High Match

USC - Reach

Hint: Don’t apply for Mech Engineering. That applicant pool usually has elevated GPAs with 4.0’s not uncommon. Apply for a less common, competitive major and then switch once accepted. Don’t hint that you’ll do that in your essays though. If you do apply for engineering anyway, bump each of my chances up half a notch (example: Tulane would become a low reach).

Doesn’t wisconsin accept applicants to the university as a whole? I think I read that on their website and on naviance but not positive. Thanks!

I only know about Wisconsin and Illinois. I think you are in at both of these. Both have an average ACT of 28, and you’ve got a 32, I think that will help make up for the GPA.

Thanks!
