Chances at WM (appreciate any help)

A friend told me about this site and I figure why not ask around. Thanks for any ideas on what I should send in, my chances, etc

SAT: 1580 (800 M / 780 V)

SAT2: 740 MIC, 710 MIIC, 740 Writing, 690 US Hist, 690 English

AP: 5 Statistics, 5 US Hist, 4 English

Current Classes: Honors Humanities, AP Modern Euro, Spanish 4, AP BC Calc, AP Bio, International Relations; taking hardest classes available.

GPA: 3.558 for soph/jr year combined, 3.783 for first quarter of senior year.

School: Our school leaves them weighted, and it is on a 4=A, .5 extra for
AP/Honors. So highest possible is 4.5 if you had all As in all APs. I am about 8-15 range out of 70 students in my grade, in a very competitive school. People have gotten into Dartmouth, JHU, Williams, Yale, Stanford, Duke, UVA, William and Mary, etc.

Extra Curricular: Dorm council (student council for boarders, elected by 40 other boarders), Varsity Squash 3 years, Basketball (AAU + School), Academic "A" Team for 3 years (One of the top teams in the nation, have won numerous scholarships and $), Science A Team 3 years, Model Organizations general committees, School Play.

Other activities: Stand up comedy (performed at club), Worked at Ben and Jerrys for 2 and 1/2 years, worked for rivals100.com for two years. Both paid well

Dad went to Harvard/Duke Med. Mom went to Brown/Harvard SOPH. I spent summer between soph/jr years at Amherst taking classes. Summer between jr/sr years at Harvard taking classes, which I got 8 credits for (received B+ in both classes). The SSP thing, got a reference from teacher.

Submitted extra materials from Academic team tournament (Scholarship info (have won close to $2000 or so for my school with team) and program from the night I did the standup comedy set. Essays were good, as were recs, although I didnt see them. Just assuming, I mean not like the teacher is gonna bash me.

Oh right, received a couple honors:
-Honor roll after sophomore year, high honors after junior year
-National Merit Commendation
-AP Scholar
-Ben Carson Nominee (8th grade so not that big deal)
-Academic team has won a crapload of stuff.

Located in Virginia

You should be all set.

Anyone else have ideas?

Why would you even post this, of course you're going to get in.

That sounds good, thanks

i'd have to sort of disagree with the posts above, even though, you're numbers are very good (especially your SAT scores) your GPA is on the low end, William & Mary's GPA for the most recent class (my class) was a 4.07, nearly everyone I have met here was either the valedictorian or salutatorian of his/her class, and many people from my high school with 4.0s did not get in, so don't think you're a shoo in bc of your GPA, bu rest assured that your SAT scores will def. be looked as a plus on your application

well my first semester gpa was 3.85, so that should help. also,i go to a more difficult school than most. kids got in early already this year to oharvard williams dartmouth stanford colombia yale duke UVA WM JHU etc. also, the gpas are underinflated.

that being said you are probably right. thanks for the input

you have crazyyyy stats...if you live in VA then you are def in

I think things look good for you, since your stats are terrific, your ECs are solid (and the stand-up comedy makes you somewhat unique), and you're instate. If you're a guy, so much the better.

My d's a senior at W & M, and even though there are lots of vals/sals there (both her roommate and boyfriend were #1 in their high schools, which is kind of funny), most kids weren't ranked at the very top. You aren't quite in your school's top ten percent, but I don't think that's a major problem since you attend a competitive private school and the adcoms will know to consider that when they look at your app. If you put some effort into your essays (did you do the supplemental?), I think you should feel pretty confident.

yah did a pretty good supplemental.....and ya, its a realy competitive school. we had a kid who was probably a fair bit lower than me gpa wise get in, so that hopefully bodes well

While the GPA is on the low side, W&M looks passed GPA and looks more at the overall package. For example, UVA is a lot more stat based than W&M. The student body as a whole at both schools, while very very good at each, I would say there are some noticeable differences.

I got in with a 3.55 (probably under 3.5 at the time of admission), not inflated at all HS gpa.

well i like w&m because it's more "student personality" oriented rather than GPA oriented, like UVA. Basically i had a 3.6 unweighted and i got accepted because I had high SAT scores just like you. I am also very active for alot of community things and I have lots of experiences with my intended majors.
