Chances at Yale EA, Harvard, Stanford, JHU, accel med programs

LOL.
i volunteer at HUP too. I worked at Neurosurgery last year.
What day do you volunteer?

i am so jealous of your resume/scores/what not.

haha. I volunteered on Fridays. You?

I knew a Chinese girl who was Valedictorian of her highly competitive school, had perfect SAT/SAT II scores, was Student Body President and repeatedly placed first in state for piano competitions… she was accepted to Harvard, Yale AND Princeton (among numerous other highly prestigious schools) and finally chose Harvard since they provided a HUGE scholarship. You sound A LOT like this girl  And though they’ve rejected tons of highly qualified students before, you are sure to get into at least one of you top choices. HOWEVER, your scores, ECs, choice of career are very stereotypic (no offense) and you probably realize that HYPS will be seeing tons of applicants like yourself. Anyways, best of luck to you!

um… you’re amazing. so yeah. it really wouldn’t be fair for any school to decline you for being too perfect, and since you’ve played at carnegie, you’ve obviously followed your passion for music… yeah. you’re amazing.
even if you’re not, you sell yourself really well. g’luck. i’m so glad you’re not in my class…

oh, and i don’t have a thread, but can you tell me what to do to improve my stats? esp. for princeton, stanford, and harvard? i live in cali, and if i apply with the following stats early decision, do i have a chance IF i end up with these stats? I’m pretty sure I can accomplish the following (hopefully… fingers crossed!)

captain of the current #1 Cross Country team in state, varsity runner
-3 years of coaching tween girls and helping them overcome their self-confidence through running+ grant work for the program, helped increase membership
-president of my school’s science journal
-president/founder of a club, helps special ability kids through theater (and organized performances as well)
-4.0 student freshman year, 4.5 sophomore year (i’m taking precalc honors, ap chem, ap world, english H, spanish 4, and ISPE), 4.8 junior year (ap bio, ap us, calc ab, ap spanish, ap lang, and intro to journalism) and senior year (ap physics, ap lit, calc cd, and 2 other classes?) basically, the hardest courses my school offers. I got all A’s and a few A+'s frosh year…
-MUN 4 years, hopefully president
-SAT over 2200
-Science fair 2 years (it’s mandatory for ap chem students, so it’s for sure that i’ll do it, no idea how well i’ll do)
-Indian classical dance for 9 years, i assist my teacher as well + multiple performances around my community, state ranked
and -majoring in biology?

yeah, i know i need volunteer hours… i’ll join key club though. and also, i’ll volunteer at the hospital, university, etc.- i’m too young to though, so i’ll get hours once i turn 16.

help?

First, thanks for your reply, bluenotebook2. Your stats, if you achieve them, will definitely put you in the range for the schools you want. I was most impressed by your running/cross country. Perhaps you could really focus on that to gain even more depth. In general though, your interests are pretty widespread (MUN, indian dance, science fair, theater). I see that you are pretty heavily involved in each (president/founder) for each, which is good, but just remember that colleges like to see that you take your passion to the limit and 1 or 2 areas. You still have time and you’re in great shape!

:) ur welcome! and thank you so much! let us know when you figure out a way to stop world hunger.
