Chances at Yale, JHU, Columbia, NYU, MIT, Tufts

go ahead and apply, but lower your expectations in april. the only that stands out for you is your test scores, which don't really stand out that much at all too. your ECs are just lacking, and the school problem really can't excuse that lack (plenty of people find lots of great activities outside of school). good luck buddy

Your grades look okay. Not stellar but it's not a flatout reject.

Columbia -Big Reach
MIT -Almost impossible
Sophie Davis-I don't know the school, so I won't give you my reading
Yale-Almost Impossible
NYU-reach
John Hopkins-Bigger Reach

I'd start looking for less competitive schools as well to round out your pool. It seems you don't have enough matches and safeties.

Double post. Here's what Sophie Davis is:

johns not john

i'm sooo happy i learned what sophie davis is today =D yesssssssssssssss

karot-"NYU-reach
John Hopkins-Bigger Reach"

that hurts, i thought NYU would be match and JHU slight reach...i agree with others though....

darkhope-"i'm sooo happy i learned what sophie davis is today =D yesssssssssssssss"

why??

because i actually learned something today...>< just shows how unproductive i am...

ifiarc its just you must know that your weighted gpa is very low and acts are not treated as important as gpa but i do agree that nyu will be a match though =D

any1 else?

Columbia -reach
MIT - reach (although your recs, which play a heavy role, might give you a nice boost)
Sophie Davis- dunno sry
Yale-high reach
NYU-match
John Hopkins-reach
tufts-match

Columbia - reach
MIT - reach
Yale - reach
NYU - match
John Hopkins - match
Tufts - match

Also: The importance of the essay component depends on the university. At many state schools and such, it isn't too important. At HYPS, etc. it's very important, because it's one of the few things that can really set you apart from everyone else who has the same grades, APs, and SAT scores as you.

Columbia -reach
MIT - reach
Sophie Davis- dunno sry
Yale-high reach
NYU-match
John Hopkins-reach
tufts-match
copied from previous poster lol =D

essays are seriously the least important ???? like SERIOUSLY ????

essays are only considered if you meet up w/ the rest of the applicants in stats..because everyone has good essays...

They aren't the least important.

any1 else wanna help me out...btw i dunno if this matters, but im east indian race, i think minority status helps but im not sure

^^dude, you sound desperate and pathetic

don't let college dominate your life

and no, whatever indian isn't minority. it will hurt you

oh, and guess what? essays ARE the least important

Unless you're an admissions officer or you can back up that claim, then you aren't in a position to assert so unequivocally that essays are least important. Do a search and explore the importance of essays. =)

"dude, you sound desperate and pathetic

don't let college dominate your life"

im desperate but not pathetic...maybe ur the only person who doesnt stress out about college and let it control their life until they finish their apps

im indian i didnt let colleges dominate my life, lol and i got into a pretty good one. essays are the least important btw.

u have a good shot at sophie davis, but about yale... doesnt it require 3 SAt IIs?
