What are my chances?
(i know none of them is a safety...hehe!)
and i applied to Caltech and Stevens institute of tech as well

not sure. for internationals they really like to see high writing scores. u can try retaking that? the rest of it looks decent

What country?

We can't judge if you're already judging for yourself calling your transcripts and recs great and don't give any detail about it. the same for your ec's and essay.

ive got the highest grades in all of my subjects in every exam and have not seen the recos but the teachers who wrote them write well
n ECs like 200+ hrs of community service, Lights and Sounds co director for the school play, acted in a couple of them, School Prefectship, Winner of science olympiads, Spelling bees, Debates, School Day Prize for overall First(not shared), Best Performer of Talent night 2003, etc

the international pool is very competitive as there are a limited number of spots and most of the schools you mentioned are not need blind to internationals, so therefore if you are going to need $$ it will put you at a disadvantage. There is also limited financial aid for internationals.

Your EC's really are not that stellar when you consder the applicant pool which you will be applying against.

sybbie's comment about financial aid hurting you is totally false. everyone knows that schools dont look at your financial needs when considering you for admissions. good luck.

Not true- first of all, most schools in America are NOT need blind. The most prominent and rich schools (like those Purity is applying) are need blind, but even most of those are only need blind to American citizens/permanent residents. I know that maybe P'ton and Yale are need blind to internationals, but that group of schools is extremely small.

What country are you from? If it is Iraq or something bizarre like that, then I would say your chances are greatly improved.

i am from Nepal

you have a strong chance, especially given your geographical location and your strong test scores.

You see, these colleges always like to have at least one student from as many different countries as they can find. That way they can brag, "We have students from over 120 countries" or what not. So one of those schools will need someone from Nepal, rest assured.

boost SATs about 50pts and i think you have a 50% chance at cornell (early decision is only 25%). boost it about 100pts and i think your in (70%)

i cannot give sats again....
am i totally screwed???

your not screwed. you just have a fine chance. i actually messed up your sats, taking it to be 1350 rather 1450... i think you can get into cornell with those stats. i got in ED with 1490, but shoddier ecs. BUT, i had a great interview.

good luck

Thank u :)

Bump. She got in at MIT :p

yes i did :))

then what the **** are ya posting yer chances for????? I'm so ****ened jealous!!!! You should be celebrating and partying, not asking for chances.

Dude... this thread was from early Jan. i was just lookin at this and since i knew she got in, i posted. she did not ask me to do so. end of story.
