The good thing is you are No. 1 in your class but the down side is that it is a small class size. Hard to tell, you seem to have the grades, SAT in the mid range, and good EC’s. You need great rec’s and follow it up with stunning essays that tie everything together. THe process is so subjective, many very, very good students don’t get in

I would say you have about a 15% chance of getting in, which should actually be encouraging. Are you planning on SCEA or RD?

Honestly, I think you are spread out wayyyy too thin. Jeez, how do you have time for all those activities? Depth not breadth. Also, it’s impressive your GPA is what it is, I’ll give you that. I think you’ve loaded up on way too many AP though, and my guess is you’re probably up 'til 3 am most nights. It is difficult to tell what your main interest is. Biology, Acting, Chinese, Animals, Singing, French? You are in so many different unrelated activities, it honestly looks like you are trying very hard to impress.

Again, DEPTH NOT BREADTH. I cannot stress enough how important this is!!!

So, conclusively, I’d say your chances for Yale are slim. Sorry if it’s harsh but it’s the truth. You have to be a SUPERSTAR at one thing, not mediocre to good at several things.

collegeboy: given that he current admit rate is about 7%, your guess at 15% chance for the OP is essentially doubling his chances or +100% over his peer applicants. While viable, there’s nothing that jumps out at me that would indicate such a rosy assessment.
