i kno i dont have a hook but...
Any chance at Yale?

im too lazy to check but i think you posted this on the harvard boards also. so, to reiterate: relax.

ahh, i miss the yale boards. everyone was so friendly...Are you there prospective elis? its me, the infamous defector...
well maybe not infamous. but i think itd be cool if i were.

Really, relax. I know that's hard to do because when I was a sophomore, I was spazzing out about this stuff too. But don't waste your high school years freaking out about college. I know that sounds cliche, and I have a lot of trouble following my own advice here, but I think it's really true. Don't be so eager to be a senior that you miss out on being a sophomore.

haha whenicomearound. The infamous defector who started the Official Yale EA thread and applied to Harvard EA instead and got in. I remember you. I forgive you.

Kid, gain some life experience and talk about that in your essays.

Life is where the make/break comes into the application process. As much people would like to say URM got me in, umm, I saw people around my area get rejected and were definitenly hispanic.

I still say it comes down to the essay. Your stats bring you into play, your passion for life keeps you in, is what I like to say.

Spend the next two years growing and discovering about yourself, so that when those essays come, your stats aren't what guides you.

I really don't understand why you guys are so hard on sophomores and such... it is never too early to think about college, especially when one aspires to attend a HYP school. And I certainly don't understand why you guys call them "kids" when most of you were their age 2 years ago...

harvard2727, to answer your question:
-maintain a good GPA
-start preparing for the SAT (spend half an hour a week or so and you'll be golden).
-FOCUS on your EC's and such. They are the most important element of your application. You have to distinguish yourself.

But, as many have wisely pointed out to you, you must relax and try to have a good time. Your high school years should be memorable for the fun you've had, not for the stress you had to cope with.

lol enjoy life first, then think about college later... wayyyyy later.
like maybe a year and a half later...

trust me, your application will be a lot stronger if you dont worry about it for now and just do the things you enjoy and care about. let the seniors and spring term juniors worry about their applications...
