Chances at Yale !!! :]

I'm a high school junior, and I would like an opinion on my chances. My GC said I should definitely apply, but I'm really not sure WHAT that means. ;]

Location :CT (not by New Haven though....does that help?)

High School: public, the valedictorian for the past 4 years has gotten into Yale. I am not the valedictorian, but my grade's valedictorian wants to go to MIT

Stats: GPA : 4.16 weighted, 3.6 unweighted

top 10%, we don't rank, but I think I'm #6 in the class of 220

Sophmore Year: AP Music Theory (3) and AP Euro Hist (4), and other usual courses (honors, and music courses)

Junior Year:

Summer Programs: WSCU Flute Camp
Virginia Dance Camp
Research at Yale this summer about liver fibrosis!

I reallllly want to go to Yale! I love the entire atmosphere!!

Flute & piccolo make you an interesting candidate. It would be a tremendous help if you lived in New Haven. Your chances are good-- but that translates to 10% to 15% as Yale's admit rate hovers around 9% to 10%.

Do you think that I should apply Yale's equivalent of ED?

What kind of stuff can I do now that would lift my chances from 10% -15% to top 9%?

how does flute/piccolo make her interesting?

(jw because i play the flute too)!

good chances!!!!

Sat/act????

I just took them March 1st 08, but my PSAT scores were CR 80, M 75 W 75.

I expect my SAT to be better, as I took a Princeton Review course

3.6 is a bit low but your rank is pretty high so I guess you're just in a tough school. Good EC's, I'd just like to see more hard numbers. Definitely above-average chances right now.

Your PSAT scores are great. Seems like your a great candidate. I'm a Girl Scout too and the Gold Award looks fabulous. If you haven't done it yet, pick something that can really display your leadership skills and make sure its something different, that is not too easy. Good Luck and I think you have a great shot!

Low GPA, ec's don't look very unique, and Yale is already absurdly difficult to get into. Not trying to be mean or diminutive, and 15 years ago when it wasn't nearly as cutthroat, you would have a great shot. Just a reality check....

Seems like a good sign that your GC told you to apply.

i would say you have a good shot. in connecticut (it looks like u live in a somewhat affluent town- correct me if im wrong) a 3.6 UW gpa at my school is very good- u have to look at that 4.16 weighted

your ECs are decent- obviously music if your SATs are 2300 id say u have a better shot than most- yes apply EA to yale if u really wanna go

btw im from CT and i def dont wanna stay
