Chances?!? BE HONEST!

I applied already, but have not heard back. I’m wondering what you guys think…

GPA: 4.2 weighted
SAT: 1350
Class Rank: Somewhere in the top 10%
Community service: 200 + hours, mostly at a hospital not far from my house. It mostly consisted of transporting paticents and making them feel better by talking to them.

EC’s:
BPA (Vice President)
National Honor Society (Vice President)
National Spanish Honor Society (President)
Ambassador at my school
Free Speech Club
Student Officer
Science Club
Chemistry club (Treasuerer)
Recomendations: WAY above average
Essays: Average to slightlt above average.
Went to Cornell University’s Summer Program and maintained an A- average.

Senior Classes:
AP Calc BC
Ap Spanish
AP Economics and Governemnt
AP Physics
AP English
some AP art class, I forgot the name
AP Stats

I screwed around in middle school and took really easy class frshman year and since then I’ve worked every summer to get in the classes that I have now. Will they look at that as a factor in admission, and if so is it good or bad?

My other concern is there’s the IB profram at my school, and I didn’t enroll because of Middle School. However, I have tkaen the majority of AP’s at my school and like I said, worked all my summers to get there by taking summer school classes etc. to get there.

Thanks for the feedback!

BE BRUTALLY HONEST!!!

I'd say pretty strong, though the SATs are mid-pack at best. Is there an ED II at BC. I think that would boost your chances.

I got in EA to BC - I never heard they had a EDII, but who knows!
I think your stats look great - my bet is that you're in! Good luck!

I think that your up trend is excellent and will certainly help you....your biggest weakness is the SAT but with some good recs and essays i think you're in

good luck!

I'd say you're in. The SAT is still above average for BC, I think (their average is 1330ish, right?)

There is no EDII at BC, only EA and RD. As far as your chances go, they're very good - the trend of increasing GPA and course difficulty will help you, not hurt you. Your ECs aren't unique, but you have enough leadership positions that you should be fine in the realm. I would say you've got a 75% chance. (but i just kinda pull numbers out of my a** when it comes to these things...)

Hey, I went to the Early Admission BC Reception, and according to the admission office, the average SAT score for Early Applicants was about 1400. (1397 to be exact!)

spacemancraig, I am taking the exact same classes as u this yr except for AP spanish (taking AP environmental science instead). Anyways, I believe you have a good chance: good ec, pretty good SAT, how u do on ur SAT II's?)

your SATs don't reflect your course load, not that it's a bad score, it's pretty solid. some people just aren't good test takers (plus I heard that colleges are starting to consider AP test scores more heavily). You should get in.
