Chances @ Boston, Carnegie Mellon, Caltech, Berkeley, Georgia Tech, & Cornell!

I am currently entering Junior year and exploring my options for chemical engineering. The schools I am listing are not at all safeties, at least I do not believe so! But I would honestly like to know if I even have a shot, or if I am just being delusional. I appreciate all of your feedback as I really am looking for advise and guidance! Thank You!

Just a simple bump!

Georgia Tech’s average SAT was a 2150 and on there weighting scale the average gpa was a 4.0 (+.5 for AP classes).

dirtysocks where did you get the SAT score? That number definitely doesn’t seem right for GT.

OP, improve your SAT or ACT to ~2100/31 if you want a better shot. Currently, Cornell and Caltech are way out in the exosphere as far chances (Caltech would be a reach even with a 2300, though).

I haven’t taken the official SAT as of yet, however I have taken the ACT and received a 28, which I believe is their average. I still do not know with all the other information I provided however what that means as far as my chances of being accepted.

This is a complete list of all of the competitive schools I am considering:
Northeastern
Boston
California Institute of Technology
Drexel University
Tufts University
Cornell University
Carnegie Mellon University
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of California Berkeley
Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Boston what? College is more selective than uni but offers a tremendous amount of need-based aid in comparison. For BC a 30+ ACT would be good.

I just read that you’re going into jr year. If you are seriously interested in Caltech, involve yourself in math/science academic competitions. Practice for and take the AMC and try to score well. You still have time to improve your scores (Caltech’s SAT Math middle 50% is 760-800 which is ridiculous). You are definitely on the right track to get into an awesome school, though.

Try looking into more public schools for ChemE/engineering in general. Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Delaware, Illinois and Michigan have amazing ChemE, for example, along with GaTech and Berkeley.

Uhh… im pretty sure GATech avg sat score is around 1900
