Chances Chances Chances at UC

GPA is 3.7
material science engineering major
few ECs
taking some honors courses at cc
decent essay

what are my chances at:
UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, UCSB?

help anyone?

i'd appreciate it if anyone could share their opinion, thanks

There's not much to say other than, "you have a good chance," but Berkeley/UCLA will always be stretches for engineering.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Do you know the percentage of acceptance to these UCs with this major? Is double major harder to into? or is it the same?

I think the percentage of admitted students at Berkeley and LA is in the mid-twenties, even with many highly qualified applicants. Engineering is very competitive, have you completed all the major prerequisites?

Yes, i would have completed all of the major prerequisites by the end of spring semester before transfer.

is it "hopeless" to hope?

"is it "hopeless" to hope?"

...no way, you are a competitive applicant because you have a good GPA and your prerequisites completed.

thanks... i really hope i could get in...

what are the chances for a polysci major with 3.44 GPA and great personal statement and EC's? i will be taking a course in winter and i will get an A which will bring me up to 3.47.

i am particularly interested in UCLA and USC

looking forward to ur opinion!

I'm not quite sure if I can evaluate you, I'd like to know a little more:
-What do your grade trends look like? Did you start out with lower grades and begin to raise it or vice versa?
-Will you have all your major prerequisites completed by spring?
-Are any of your EC's related to your major?

A 3.44 does not automatically put you in the reject file but, as you probably know, UCLA is very tough to get into. Political science is an impacted major and I believe the average GPA is around 3.6 (it’s amazing how much these numbers matter, but they receive so many applications that much of the process needs to be numbers driven). However, it looks like you are improving your GPA and that shows initiative. Your chances are higher at USC because their average transfer GPA is around a 3.5 and it might be lower for social sciences. If your GPA was higher you would be eligible more merit scholarships from USC (I don't know if money is an issue for you).
