What are my chances?

Gee thanks...

Anyone Else?

Rice U and UT-Austin are matches...the others are reaches.

BUMP

anyone else?

Those are mostly hard to predict schools...you're not definitely in, but you should definitely apply. 50/50, on-the-fence, chance at all of them.

One more question...ummm do colleges discriminate b/w online and paper applications? whatabout common app/own applications? do you recommend applying online or through mail?

they like online app alot more, but paper app is fine for those who cant do online. common app is mostly so you dont have to fill in your basic info a million times and only need 3 recs written, not 3 million. the supplements are almost exactly like the essays and other questions you answer on the school's so it's meant to help you not waste time writing your name and social security number. i would say apply online unless you are parinoid someone will steal your identity (which is impossible without giving people your passoword). if that is the case, drive to the schools and hand in the apps in person (probably the only way you know 100% your apps are in).

BUMP AGAIN

Anyone else about my chances?

I assume UT is your safety. Will you be happy there? You are a little low at Rice, but in the pool. Match at Cornell. Reach at Penn. Big reach at Stanford. How many of the 60 people ahead of you are applying to the same schools?

bandit_TX:

i doubt that many ppl r applying to cornell above me, but i know that a crapload of ppl r applying to stanford, a little less to penn, and a decent amount at rice

Cornell, Penn, and Rice are all good reach schools for your stats. Stanford is unlikely. Good Luck!

b-uh-uh-ump

"katrina victims"- i love it. anyway, your indian status will not give you the URM advantage, for the percentage of indians at all top colleges is much greater than that of the american population. you are in fact an ORM.

um...ok...but what r my chances?
also...no offense pirt8528

"I assume UT is your safety. Will you be happy there? You are a little low at Rice, but in the pool. Match at Cornell. Reach at Penn. Big reach at Stanford. How many of the 60 people ahead of you are applying to the same schools?"

so do you think that cornell is an easier school to get into than rice?
