Chances Class of 2013

I visited Georgetown this spring and loved it. I'm a legacy kid, which helps (I think?) In terms of "standing out", I've definitely spent a lot of time in high school studying global human rights...i'm doing an independent study on it, ive done conferences about it, and i have a huge volunteer job with a biiig national anti-genocide coalition. its something im really passionate about, and I hope to emphasize that in my app...its not the only thing I do, and you may not be able to see the focus I have on it from my lsit (sorry its long...dont read it all I know its boring!) but it is something that my essays, college recs will all focus on a lot.

**My GPA is lower than one would expect of a student applying to top-tier schools, but that is because my school is incredibly difficult and has absolutely no grade inflation. The GPAs of accepted students from my school are always lower than the average accepted GPA of the colleges because colleges know how rigorous my school is.

Stat profile...sorry its long, its the one that college confidential provides!

you definitely look like a competitive candidate to me. The only thing I'm troubled by is your class rank and GPA.If your class is so small however, I'm not worried about the former. Your GPA on the other hand, does seem low. I imagine the upward trend will help quite a bit. Even if colleges actually know the grade distribution of your school, I imagine it's still going to present some difficulties.

my school actually doesn't rank because its so small but i am in the top 5..which is top 10% for me. my GPA is average/slightly higher than other kids from my school who have been accepted recently, but i know its going to be an incredibly tough year so definitely its a worry.
