Chances @ CMC, Bates, Colby, Bowdoin, Vassar, Oxy, Wes, Pitzer, Whitman, USC, Tulane, Vandy, BC, CC

That’s rough, our school is barely reputable so it’s not too difficult to maintain good grades. Like I said your grades are fine, your ec and other involvement will be a hugeeee plus on your application. Seriously though how on earth did you do so much research I can’t even fathom

@smallandeen‌ it took up my entire summer basically and I’m working on research at home through email. My projects are mostly clinical so it’s not lab work. I did do lab work over the summer. I present at the museum of science and industry now and host an event with the alzheimers association and I think that is what will make me unique on my application since it deals with science spreading throughout the community and my own passion also. I do a lot more hands on stuff. Kids at my high school are so into their grades and scores that they forget passion which a lot of them lack.

@vballgurl‌ Vanderbilt has a lot of premed weeding and grade deflation which is why I can’t do ED1 there. I’m talking to a CMC student now that is into neurosurgery and he works in the admission office also. The pressing reason is that I truly love CMC and the student body there. The own admission officer told me the event I hosted was impressive especially for a high school student and the student I’m talking to now knows about my research and he said no student has applied to CMC specifically with published papers. I don’t know. I love CMC too much to let it go.

Bump please

@lifeishard sadly I’m an Illinois resident.

@JHUSoccer‌

Do want to go to Tulane??
I think you have a good shot…
Someone around your range got accepted from my school, he applied EA…

@lifeishard‌ Yes. I’m applying EA. Tulane is my 3rd choice.

i got into uw madison with an act score of 30, really good essays, reccomendations and perfect math scores and sat 2s… i think it will be a match,
cmc - reach
vandy mach
colorado- safety
tulane - safety
boston- high match

please tell me your major, so it will make it easier for me to tell you accurate predictions

@zomboy‌ I’ll go in either as a neuroscience or psychology major with premed intention.

CMC(ED1) - high match
Vandy(ED2) - reach
Tulane(EA) - match
Colorado College (EA) - match
Boston College (EA) - high match
U of Wisconsin - high match

chance back?

then i think you will have a really good chance with these universities with your intended major

@zomboy‌ even with a low gpa and act?

I don’t know if my knowledge is correct or not but this is how my list runs. @zomboy‌

Oxy, Whitman, Wisconsin, and Tulane are low matches/safeties

Bates, Colby, Pitzer, Colorado College would be matches

Boston College and USC would be low reaches

Vassar, Wesleyan, Bowdoin, CMC, and Vanderbilt would all be reaches

CMC: high match
Vandy: reach
Tulane: low match
CC: match
BC: low reach
Vassar: reach
USC: low reach to reach
Pitzer: high match

Unsure about the rest. Thanks for chancing me!

I think that CMC and Vanderbilt are big reaches for you with a 29 ACT score. Vanderbilt’s 25th-percentile score for accepted students is a 32. CMC wants “leadership.” My son had a similar GPA (lower unweighted, but all IB/AP classes at a rigorous private school), with a 31 ACT/2060 SAT, and lots of leadership ECs, but he did not get into CMC. He got into Tulane, but with no merit aid. He also got into Oxy, Pitzer, and Whitman. He did not even bother applying to Vanderbilt.

@woogzmama‌ Should I bother applying to vanderbilt?

Anyone else have any input?

CMC-math
Vandy-reach
Tulane-low reach/ match
Colorado College-match
Boston College-match
Wisconsin-Madison-reach
you have really good ec’s and thanks for the chance

Unless you have a major “hook,” or your scores increase significantly, it probably isn’t worth the time and application fee. When we visited, they stated - after going on about their “holistic” admissions - that most people whose scores fell below their 25th percentile had other attributes (e.g. legacies, athletics, underrepresented-minority status, etc.). I don’t know where some of the others on this thread got the idea that CMC is anything other than a reach for you, either.
