What I don’t see on your list are small liberal arts colleges and also colleges that are test-optional. There is an excellent LAC located in the Northwestern PA called Allegheny and their motto is “Unusual combinations” so you are a perfect fit. We visited it with my son (also from Long Island), and loved it. It is in a middle of nowhere, though, but they do have a few kids from NY and NJ, although, most of the population comes mostly from Cleveland and Pittsburgh and from Buffalo as well (Buffalo is two hours away). Your ACT score is good enough for them and you will qualify for the merit aid that will knock down the cost. If not this college, check other LAC’s especially on the list of colleges that change lives.
