heres my prelim list:

Boston College Maybe- reach
Emory University Maybe-reach
George Washington University IN-low-match
Johns Hopkins University OUT-REJECT
Miami University IN-safety
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign IN-safety
University of Miami IN-high match
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor MAYBE-reach
University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Campus IN-safety
University of Rochester IN-reach
University of Southern California MAYBE-reach
University of Washington IN- safety
University of Wisconsin - Madison IN match
Washington University in St. Louis OUT- super reach/REJECT

PLEASE, are these accurate? what do you disagree with, be specific please.

Im sorry if i seem really annoying or needy, but this is really stressful to me, i wonder if i am overshooting and will get in nowhere. add to this my parents think its either top 20 college/michigan(where my brother is) or going to community college and flipping burgers the rest of my life. thank you in advance for your help

anyone?
(10char)

Madison isn't a safety. Match, maybe.

Of course this is stressful for you! Tell your parents to shut the hell up.

It's that sort of mentality that causes so much harmful stress in today's college-bound students. You can be happy and successful almost anywhere, and if your parents think that you need a big name college for a big time career, use this as a chance to prove them wrong.

I think Hopkins and WUSTL are reaches, not absolute rejections; does Near Eastern/Arabic count as an URM subcategory? You have great test scores (although not fabulous for your reach schools), and you should be able to get into a handful of Top 20's (to please your parents).

If I were to evaluate your chances (I'm no expert, but I think I have a pretty good idea), they would be as follows:

BIG REACHES (low chance, but still try):
WashU St.L
Johns Hopkins
Boston College

SLIGHT REACHES/HIGH MATCHES (better chance, but still iffy):
USC
Emory
U Mich Ann Arbor
U Rochester
U Miami (more a match)
U Wisc Madison

LOW MATCHES/SAFETIES
The rest

is BC really that big a reach? i was thinking USC was reach and BC was more a high match

Actually, you're probably right. Boston College would not be as far a stretch as the others.

you would be in at the university of washington if you were in-state, but unfortunately for you, u washington hates out of state students. however it does like to say that students come from all 50 states. so maybe being from missouri will help you. i dont know if i would call it a safety though, because the average in-state gpa is about 3.65, although the avg sat score is lower than yours. i would call it matchy. you probably have about the same chance at washington as you do at wisconsin.

and unfortunately north african is caucasian, and therefore not URM. but you would still add diversity to a school, because of the arabic and everything.
