just mail it to them.
@desi_chick. Thx (:
For a normal well-rounded person, how much GPA and SAT are enough? For SAT I 2210, does it need to be retaken?
no not at all. in fact, if you retake it iāve heard it may hurt your chances. as long as youāre within range youāre fine.
whats the best way to get from cornell to new york city? is there any kind of university-run bus service or anything, or do kids tend to get together and road trip?
Cornell operates a bus service to NYC I think itās $150 round trip. You can also take a Shortline busā¦not sure of the price but itās significantly less that the Cornell bus.
how long does it take, and how frequently does it run?
Buses: The Shortline bus runs from Cornell (stops include Collegetown, West and North Campus) to NYC Port Authority, around $50-$60 one way, about 4 hours. At least during breaks when students are likely to be taking this bus the schedule says they run every couple of hours (8am, 10:30am, 12 noon, something like that).
Other methods: I live in New Jersey, so I try to carpool with others in my area (in my dorm, which has an email listserv, I start to get a lot of emails requesting for rides to certain regions in return for anything from car conversation to gas money). Driving time between Cornell and my town is around 4.5 hours; otherwise I do the Shortline to NYC and take another hour from NYC to central NJ.
Usually the Shortline actually takes longer because the bus stops at Binghampton and Montecito for quite a whilleā¦so it actually ends up taking close to six hours. So if you are going back home during a weekend during a non-peak period, the bus ride is going to be rather terrible.
However, at peak periods (Spring break, fall break, winter break, etc.) they will have express buses that go directly from Ithaca to New York, shaving off quite a bit of time.
The C2C bus operated by Cornell costs a lot more than the Shortline bus, and you will probably need to book your tickets early, but their seats are a lot more comfortable (the shortline seats are worse than your typical economy seat on a domestic flight), and they have wi fi and snacks on board.
My recommendation would be to avoid the buses and find a rideshare if possible. C2C is way too expensive, and shortline is just a pain. Zimride works for finding carpools. You can also try using the ithaca craigslist rideshare section.
Chances?

And Iāve changed my mind from CAS to CALS
Does Cornell accept SAT II scores from November if they are sent directly to Cornell and I apply ED?
ha sorry that was probably the funniest thing iāve read in a while
I was under the impression that Cornell doesnāt consider SAT writing scores at all, but the ILR website posts recommended scores on a 2400 scale. Why the discrepancy?
i guess each undergraduate college has different preferences. is it true that CAS doesnāt really care about the SAT?
Howās the connection/alumni network for business and engineering (separate questions lol).
mickjagger: CAS cares SAT than any other colleges in Cornell do. I think so
Hi,
Iām a senior high school student in Canada, and Iām hoping to apply to the B.Arch program at Cornell. How competitive is it to get into the program? What SAT I and SAT II Math 1 scores should I be aiming to get? How intense is the program itself?
Hello,
I am currently a freshman at UC Berkeley and am doing the pre-business track. I have a guaranteed transfer to the ILR school at Cornell next year and debating whether to make the transfer. The thing about the Haas school of bus. is that I would be applying sophomore year and do not have guaranteed admission into Haas. If anyone from either program or either school has any suggestions/comments at all, they would be greatly appreciated. I am leaning towards transferring right now and would like to know which path would provide better career/job opportunities. Also, I want to go to Law School or Business school for grad.
polymorphism - ILR is not a business focused program. However, with that said, it is flexible enough for you to take many classes outside ILR and your major doesnāt play that much of a factor if you demonstrate interest in the business field.
As an ILRie, I can guarantee that you will not find a better mix of students. Itās the people you meet during college that really counts. If you are truly adamant about what the title of your major is, go to Haas. If you are looking for a life-changing experience with one of the best alumni networks in the country (and probably the world), come to Cornell. You will not be disappointed.
thanks for the response fidelissemper. The alumni network is probably stronger than the alumni network at Berkeley and the student services office is probably more helpful also considering that Cornell is a private university.
