Chances? D:

Just by reading these boards, I can see that NCSU has really raised their standards. As a result, I'm pretty worried that I won't be accepted into State next year. I plan on applying for engineering, which I know is competitive.

Stats:
I'm a bi-racial female, so I suppose that makes me an URM? (My mom is white, and my father is black)
UW: 3.7 W: 4.3 (should be higher by application time next fall with the summer classes I plan on taking...more like a 4.5 or 4.6)
SAT: Haven't received my scores yet
Classes: All Honors and AP...the only standard classes I have taken are those where honors isn't offered (Gym, French, etc.)
Grades wise, I've made either all A+/B+
EC:
Link Leader, 2 years
Tutor, 2 years
100+ volunteer hours through Humane Society and Best Buddies
Member of 3 honor societies
Dual Enrollment through community college
Girl Scout for 9 years
Music lessons for 7 years

This summer I plan on participating in one of the week long engineering programs offered at State, as well as a science oriented service project in Peru.

Do I even stand a chance?

Are you instate? I believe you stand a very good chance if your SAT comes out good. Your gpa is good and being a URM woman in engineering should help too.

It would be nice if other students who have the knowledge posted. I guess they are really busy with class. This is a serious school and when we were on other tours such as Clemson and I asked the Mechanical Engineering students why those chose Clemson over NCSU and they replied just that … too serious. It depends on the environment you are wanting and needing.

My son received admittance (scholars program), engineering and OS.

2060 SAT
10 AP
4.12 weighted GPA
Top 5% of h.s. class (very competitive)

It definitely is in his top 2 and he is very excited. Good luck.

Closing thread. Use the “What Are My Chances?” board.
