honest opinions please

comments please... urgent!!

Honestly, it is highly unlikely you will get into Dartmouth. SATs and SATIIs just too low. GPA just average for Dartmouth applicant. ECs, as you said, nothing special.

i know that its unlikely
but the fact that my sister goes there should giv me some chance... right?

you have some chance by just applying.

Honestly, scores don't matter as long as you meet the averages. Essays, recs, EC's, and interviews do.

Rejected. ECs are bad. Sorry.

What would be some good ECs to take? I don't think there's much better offered at my school. I want to get to dartmouth too.

There are no specific ECs to recommend to people. If you're an athlete, become a captain of a varsity team. Become president of a couple clubs. Get elected to the student council. Being a member of a bunch of clubs isn't that great...focus on a few that reflect your interests. If you're not really a leader in school, get a good job outside of school, an internship or research or something. And volunteer at one thing so you can accumulate lots of hours. Whatever it is, focus on it.

Look, the Dartmouth median V+M SAT is 1455. 25% of the entering class (that is, the 75th percentile or above) has a V+M of 1550. Typically, kids who are accepted and have V+M below the median have a hook - they're recruited athletes, legacies, URMs, celebrities or offspring of celebrities, their parents have made a huge donation, they've done something amazing, etc. (and having a sister going there really doesn't make it as a hook). Kids with V+M above the median who are accepted - and this constitutes most of the kids who don't have hooks - typically have amazing GPAs or amazing ECs or both. Realistically, you dont' have a hook, your SATs are too low, your GPA is too low and you don't have the ECs. You need to look at other colleges. And believe me, there are numerous excellent colleges out there where your stats would be competitve. For example, if you need to apply to an Ivy, take a look at Cornell. You also might want to look a Vassar, Tufts, Emory, Vanderbilt, or Georgetown. Good schools that are a little less selective include Colgate, Brandeis, William and Mary, and Conecticut College. Good schools you could probably use as safeties include Dickinson College, Lafeyette, and Syracuse. Don't get hung up on Dartmouth. Look at other colleges. Guarenteed you'll find a bunch that meet your needs and fit you.

the fact that your asian is gonna go against you
become black or something

Otherwise i think you'd be rejected (sorry)
few kids from my school got into dartmouth and they had over 2300 sat's and were national ranked swimmers going on to olympics lol

amptron2x

uhh.. having a sister attending dartmouth kinda makes me a legacy

no it doesn't. for most schools, legacy almost always means your parents went there
