Hey guys! I’m a 17 y/o white straight male, and a junior in high school. Looking into majoring in computer science as I am the top of my computer science class, and I enjoy it.
Schools I have looked at:
Northwestern (big reach)
University of Michigan
University of Wisconsin (top choice)
University of Minnesota
University of California: San Diego
University of Washington
Michigan State (safe choice)

ACT: 28. Room to improve as I’m receiving score of 1 and taking 1 additional test

ECs:
Track and Field: 4 years
Cross Country Team: 3 years
Nordic Skiing: 2 years
DECA Business club: 2 years, went to state both years
Band:
Concert Band: 7 years, top band for 2 years. Euphonium/Baritone
School Musicals: 1st chair trombone 2 years, 2 shows per year
Extra Band TAing: 1 year, Trumpet/Tuba/Trombone/Euphonium
~I was told there is a large demand for Euphonium Players in college with scholarships being offered
Arranged with my computer science teacher to found our school’s first computer science club next year

What’s your state of residence? With your ACT and grades, top CS programs are going to be reaches, but that’s not the end of the world

Little to no scholarships and no financial aid for University of California-San Diego as an out of state applicant. This includes all UC’s. I suggest you run the Net Price Calculator on all schools of interest and have the money talk with your parents before compiling your college list. Agree with @beebybettle, tough admit with current test scores.
