Chances? (Different schools than most are asking about)

Hello,

I am looking at the following:

Indiana University Bloomington
Ohio University
Bowling Green
West Virginia University
U. of Dayton
Xavier University
Syracuse University
University of Florida

and while I'm at it, any chance at the University of Notre Dame (with very good essays)?

My SAT score is 1180/1750 and my GPA is about 4.15 weighted / 3.45 unweighted. As far as extracurriculars, my only one is soccer, although I've devoted lots of time to it, playing on two teams including varsity for high school.

I'm a white male from Orange County, California, so nothing special there (other than out of state for all of the above)

Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Thanks!

Matt

you're probably fine for all of those schools, although i don't really know anything about xavier or UF

You're in at BG, my stats/gpa are nearly identical to yours and I got in.

Thanks both of you. Anyone else have any opinions?

You're in at WVU.

unless something at WVU really appeals to you...i'd say you're much better than that.

I'm looking at studying Sports Management and WVU seemed to have a decent program, and they were cheap.

But I'd have to say my top two right now would be OU and IU. Thanks

id say no at UF...its gotten SO competitive. my friend just got rejected this year with a 3.9 unweighted and great ECs

Syracuse is a match

you are in at Xavier...

thanks, any more opinions?

University of Florida Rejected

I'd scrap all of those except Cuse, UF and IU. UTexas is supposed to have a great sports management program, as well as Temple U. in Philadelphia.

don't scap UMass, Bowling Green and Ohio. Their SM programs are amazing.

Yeah, I'm not going to scrap any schools at this point, and if anything I will add to the list. I have a reason for each school, so I might as well share them:

Dayton, Xavier, Syracuse, Florida: Offer SM degrees, and are on the Tuition Exchange list, meaning there is a chance I could attend one of these for free if I'm accepted.

Ohio U, Indiana: Both seem to offer good SM programs, and both seem to offer what I what I want in a college.

Bowling Green, WVU: Both seem to have good SM programs, and they're relatively cheap. They'd likely be a "backup"

Notre Dame: I'm not going to get accepted, and I'd feel guilty making my parents pay for this even if I did get in, but after 18 years of aspiring to go here, I'm not going to pass it up.

You mention Texas as another school to look at, and a similar school is Michigan, but both are extremely difficult to get in from out of state, so if I were accepted, I'd likely be on the lower end and receive little, if any aid. Another school I thought about is Tennessee and some of the other larger state U's, but again, they're all out of state and it's tough to determine scholarships without a scale. I might drop WVU in place of a school like Oregon, Tennessee, UMass, etc though.

Thanks for the thoughts. Any other suggestions?
