Chances/does UCI take improvements into consideration?

Long story short, my mental health has been a disaster for a very long time, depression/anxiety/toxic environment, etc. basically since before I started college and it had only kept getting worse. During this last semester I took too many classes and then I had a few stuff happen that really messed me up even more and I completely blew my grades/GPA. I can’t stay at a CC for much longer though I just can’t. I am currently taking summer classes and I am doing well so far. Hoping to get As in them all. When you hit rock bottom you only have one way and it’s upwards so I decided to get my mess together because one of the schools I will apply to this fall will be UCI (among others) But when I apply i’ll only have a feble 2.7 I think. But by the end of fall I’m hoping it goes up to a 3.0, and in my personal essays I plan on stating my issues and how I’ve pushed myself to improve for this (I am aiming for pure As here on) My question is, what are the chances I get in? Do they take into consideration your gpa AFTER fall? or even after winter? That always confused me, and also do they take into consideration when a student improves greatly despite bad circumstances? In case it changes anything I’m transferring as an English Major.

Sorry to hear about all her mental health issues. Yes an upward trend will be noted.

Here is a link to UC transfer GPA’s by major and campus so see if you are in the ballpark. You might also want to consider staying another year to really boost your GPA. Anything under a 3.0 is going to be tough of any of the UC’s.
