I know yall' will probably say no, but if you do can you just describe how I can make my dream come true. :-) Hahaha...thanks!

ED/EA if it'd help.

not good IMO. those sat scores........

Trying to get it to 2100

I hope I get that SAT score.

Even with a 2100, Stanford is still a big reach. To be real competitive, I'd try to boost those SAT scores to 2200. However, with a 2100, you'd still have a shot, just not above the average.

A 2200 is pushing it for me....I'm not expressed well in the SAT. I hope they get a glimpse of who I am in the essay and recommendations.

With your background, you sound like you'll make a terrific anthropologist, wherever you go. Are you going to focus on medical anthropology?

Actually no, surprisingly. I think I'm leaning more towards the cultural aspect of anthropology. I SERIOUSLY love cultures and languages. :)

As posted by several on these boards...stanford doesn't place THAT much weight on Standardized stuff. 2100 is fine (there is like a 5 question diff b/t a 2100 and 2200, so i mean it doesn't matter THAT much). Just work on the essays and recs and you will have a great shot at it. If you can get the CR to like a 600 also that would help u a lot.

I'm trying to get 730+ W, 700 M, 670 CR...my goal.

Even for a URM, a 2100 SAT is too low with a GPA outside the first decile. While your EC's seem great, I am unsure if you will make the cut academically. Certainly apply if you are interested, but I think it is unlikely that you will be accepted.

Well you have to have like 99+ to be in the top 10% (17 ppl?). It isn't inflammed, trust me. People are really smart here, but sometimes lack the personability to get into a top college (robots that are nice, but not the most creative). I'm looking at Brown also along with Stanford, but I'm open to any Ivy also. :-D Anymore takers on my chances?

Did you see the link Byerly posted to minutes of Stanford's faculty senate, where the new dean of admission spoke about some new practices? It's definitely worth reading, and may give you more insight into your chances and if there is anything you can do to better them.

No, I haven't seen the link. Can you link me:-)

u guys really underestimate the chances for a URM

patwu, 91% of accepted applicants were in the top 10% of their high school class. about 75% of these accepted applicants had over a 2100 SAT. How many of these kids do you weren't in the top 10% AND didn't have a 2100 SAT. I'm not saying it's possible, but to assume a school as selective as Stanford is going to come through because of URM status is a bit crazy.

Well I went to the Byerly link, and went to the Harvard website about their school. I really like Harvard, but who doesn't? I feel like I'm in a quagmire because with that new rule, <$60k get a reduced price, which is making me sway in a direction I know I shouldn't be going to. So are my chances different from Harvard than from Stanford (I know Stanford has a high URM percentage)?

Your ECs are extremely impressive. My friends older brother got in with similar class rank and GPA, but higher test scores. And nowhere near your amount of ECs. So I'd say you have a good chance if you retake the SATs. Good luck! I hope you're admitted...I'm a junior, too so I know what you're going through. I'm only applying to one highly selective school, though, because of those stupid SATs. :-(

Thank you knaufy for the encouragement! It means a lot to know other people got in with similar stats.

Predicted AP scores: Physics 1 or 2 :-(, US History 4, English 4, Stats 3.

I'm really trying to get 2200+ for my SAT IIs and a 2150+ (new goal) for the SAT.
