chances EA for sfs?

hey guys. i'm very anxious about applying EA to georgetown SFS (it's my first choice). if not georgetown, then i will apply ED to johns hopkins. thanks a bunch!
3 year GPA: 3.65 (unweighted, no weighted GPA's are offered)
Rank: our school does not rank or give deciles, but I believe that I am in the top 15 percent
School: the top public high school in new york state and one of the most competitive in the area (we send 80 or so students every year to top colleges)

Standardized testing:
SAT I: Writing: 770, Reading: 730, Math: 630 (i am obviously not a math kid)
SAT II's: Bio-E: 790, US History: 770, World History: 750
AP: US history: 5

I have taken the most rigorous class load at my high school (all college level courses) aside from math, where I am in an honors class

EC's:
Model UN team president (i have been an officer since 10th grade)
-I have expanded the club by thirty members, won the best delegate award at Harvard Model UN, and two most outstanding delegate awards at Princeton Model UN (9-12)
Junior State of America
-I am on the state cabinet where I act as a liason between the elected officials and chapter presidents, and have won 7 best speaker awards. (10-12)
Academic Challenge
-co captain (11 and 12)
Religious School
-I have participated in confirmation classes at my synagogue, religious philosophy and community service (9-12)
JV and freshman lacrosse (9-10)
Signifer (our honor society)
-we are called to join the organization in 11th grade and tutor other students, provide fundraising for other activities, and are peer leaders

Summer Activities:
Exeter Summer School (leadership and economics courses )
Harvard University Summer School (economics, globalization and international defense/security classes )

thanks a bunch guys!

Sorry to disappoint, but…

Why only one AP? Your scores are only so-so. I know a kid who had 2270 and was rejected. She also had 8 APs, all 5s, and tons of ECs, including Debate. (Plus an essay that another top-20 school made a point to compliment.) That’s not to say they won’t be such jerks this year, but you never know.

our school is kind of weird (we don’t even have “AP” classes, just college level courses) and i’ve taken the maximum number of AP level courses our school offers us (aside from math where i’m in honors)

^we are allowed to take only one college level class as juniors

Your chances EA at GU are fair, no better. I suspect they are better ED at JHU, which, for whatever reason, is just not as popular.
What does Naviance for EA/ED applications to these schools over the last 3 years suggest about your chances?

thanks everyone, and naviance at my school tells me i’m just out of the range. however, i am the only person who has applied (or will be applying) to the SFS for the past three years, so i have been taking the naviance scatterplot with a grain of salt.

Is it SHS?
If so, chances are definitely better at Hopkins based on recent track record.

hahaha wow you’re good it is SHS. i know what you mean, hopkins definitely likes our school more than georgetown. however i thought the fact that i would be one of the few (if any) applying to SFS from my school would make a difference

You should still apply, if you reallllly want to study international relations. Make sure your essays are good, and your recommendations too.

My friend had barely-decent SAT scores, a 3 on AP gov, 4 on AP lang, 5 on AP world history, a 3.7 or 3.8 GPA, and EC’s that are impressive but probably less impressive than yours, and he got into SFS regular decision after being deferred EA. I’ll add that he was african-american, but I mean, regardless, he was accepted.

^^The African-American hook makes a big difference; I doubt that he would have gotten in without it. Therefore, I would not advise bernardo14 to be guided by your friend’s bright note.
bernardo, i don’t think that applying SFS will make a difference. Go with GU if it’s your clear favorite, but if you want to know where you’ve got better odds, it’s definitely JHU.
