Chances Early decision 1?!

Vandy is my top choice school so I would really appreciate if someone could give me their opinion regarding my changes of acceptance:

Gender: Male

Home State: Illinois

Major: Human Organizational Development

•ACT: 34

•Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.9 ... 4.56 Weighted

•Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Top 5%

•AP (place score in parenthesis): AP Human Geography (4), AP Us History (5), AP Spanish Language (5), AP English Language (5)

•IB (place score in parenthesis): NA

•Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc Bc, AP Government, AP Macroeconomics, AP psychology, Accelerated English

•Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): AP Scholar Award, Honor Roll Every year

•Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): National Honor Society, Soccer for 2 years, Community service clubs

•Job/Work Experience: Tutor and peer mentor for special needs kids

•Volunteer/Community service: Service through temple, community service clubs at school

Other

•School Type: Public

•Ethnicity: White

•Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): first generation college for one parent??

Your ACT and GPA are great. Your extracurriculars may need some work though. Did you hold any leadership positions or anything?

OP, it’s my understanding that a first generation is for the first of a family (includes both parents) to go to college. If one parent has a degree, you are not first generation. Also, an older sibling could go to college and the younger sibling would still be first generation. Sorry, no hook.

Sorry, didn’t finish- you are a strong candidate but chance threads are way too iffy. No one here is an admissions counselor in that school. Keep up the good work and good luck.
