My dad works at penn, my brother went to penn and works there over the summer, my mom used to work at penn, and my brother works at penn. I have a 3.77 unweighted gpa and im scoring around 2150 on my SATs. What are my chances ED

Do i have a better shot at Cornell ED, my father went there undergrad.

Umm can you post some other stats such as ec’s, ap tests, subject tests, etc? It would allow us to chance you better. Right now looking at pure sats, upenn is a low reach due to legacy but I would be able to give you a better prediction with more info. You probably have about the same chance ED to cornell if not better but if you like penn more, definitely ED there.

EC: I am currently in spanish club, a president of another club that i made, i have a scholarship in piano at a music school, and i play baseball all varsity for all 3 years so far, i have some community service at local hospital, i tutored a kid in SATs but i dont know if that counts, I’m applying for NHS this year. I’m a junior so im taking the ap physics mechanics test, the ap chemistry test, and the ap stat maybe. SATII, i’m taking math2 and chemistry2 and biology2. I was thinking about taking math1 also, but maybe not.
I do like Penn more. I like the city.

If you like Penn more then apply ED there. But don’t get your hopes up. I have heard of quadruple legacies with better stats and ECs than yours getting rejected ED. Also with your ECs you seem like a cookie cutter applicant. None of those really stand out much and would make an AO notice you among thousands of applicants. Your academics are okay, but slightly below average for Penn. So I would say it is still a reach for you, and I would not expect an acceptance. The best advice I could give you is to write killer essays (ie spend tons of time on them because they are very important) and hope you get some phenomenal letters of rec. Good luck!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1603723-predict-my-results-will-chance-back-immediately.html#post16818487

If I know someone on the Admissions for Penn and get a letter of recommendation from her, would that help?

imho, it wont have that big of an impact if you dont stand out. itll help if your on the brink, but your sat is lower than average and your ECs dont stick out like picklechicken said. but if u like penn, then apply ED

I think you have a chance. chance me?

@budyboy get a rec from someone who knows you well. If the person in admissions does not know you very well they will just write a very generally stated latter, which will not help your application.
