I'm a student in a small NH public school. I love NYU, and was considering applying Ed to NYU this fall. I understand the LSP and SPCS programs are easier to get into, so would it make sense to just apply there? I don't care what school I go to while at NYU, I just want to have the best shot at getting in.

Scores are low atm, but I have just taken act, and sat will be taken again this October. I am ranked 3/40 (3.7 gpa) and am at a 1900 score. I am vp of class etc but I have plenty more criteria applicable.

I am just asking if I applied to any school as an ED, what would my chances be with my scores? And how can I improve

How can you not care what school you go to? Each of the schools at NYU has very different course offerings and gives out very different degrees. If you don’t want to go into, say, hospitality management, then SCPS would be a terrible choice. Do more research before you decide to apply. Loving a school is not a good enough reason to go somewhere, you better make sure that they actually have a program that you want

ED at NYU doesn’t give you much of a bump (if at all). Check the stats on its latest Common Data Set. It will also show you where you stand with your SAT and ACT scores.

My ACT and SAT scores are on the lower end of the scale, but I dont think its out of the question. I have heard that ED adds 5-6 times the admittance rate… And where have you heard ED does not help as much?

They will take some standardised test scores (IB, A levels, etc) rather than SATs depending on the country of the applicant. Check the NYU website for the entire list.

I disagree with the “not much of a bump” part NYU Early Decision could be helpful in a way, but applicants need to be highly competitive and determinate of their decisions, of which, I can already tell you set your heart on NYU.

Since we’re both applying, I don’t mind sharing a bit of my personal experience.
I am just a hardcore NYU lover as you, wanting to attend NYU so badly and it is my dream school. I’d be seriously heart broken if I don’t get in, but you should REALLY consider thoroughly which school you really want to attend. NYU Colleges have completely different cultures and so are the students. You’d be the only one who would truly understand and experience the hard way how you really feel, if, but let’s hope that’s not the case, you get into the wrong college, and you realize that place is entirely not for you. Uni is really about experience and absorption of higher education, once you truly embrace and enjoy it, it can be counted as a valuable experience. (We all know NYU has insanely high tuition, so PLEASE CONSIDER IT! Find for your inner passion and what you really want out of the 4 years in university)

Anyhow, since you don’t seem to have a desired major, I’d recommend you apply to CAS, but with your current stats I can’t really predict your chances as CAS has an increasing stats rate, so students can be quiet competitive, and your 1900 makes NYU a reach option. Of course you can always improve your stats. The reason why I’m recommending CAS is because even if you get rejected, you could be considered for the LSP program, which you stated you don’t mind attending because you just want NYU itself.
