Chances ED AT WHARTON and RD Swarthmore, Georgetown, & more

I'm applying to Huntsman/Wharton ED at UPenn! I visited the summer before my junior year, and I'll admit--the "click" didn't come at that moment. I was still all, "oh, lovely campus. what else?" Then I started finding out about the communities at Penn--their newspaper, their Model UN, etc., and I fell in love with it. It's definitely my first choice, so I want to know what impressions/advice you all have!

I also have a rec letter from a Harvard prof. for Penn. I'm not sure how much rec letters are weighed, though...D:

Also, I'm concerned about midyear transcripts. What's their worth? I might get a B in AP Bio, which is worth 1.5 credits...

--T

Is your target language something other than your native language?

If yes, you’re certainly in the running. I’d say with an outstanding application and recs, you have a real shot.

Yeah, my target language is Spanish. Unfortunately, I didn’t do so hot on the SAT II, so I’m thinking I’ll retake it and try to…calm down. XD

Really? Thanks! Honestly, I’m fairly certain that I’ve got the “international” part of my app down…it’s the language that’s scaring the hell out of me.

Also, hmom5, what do you think about the other colleges on my list?

(I know this is irrational, but I bet every college applicant has had this fear for a split second: What if I don’t get in anywhere?

It’s ridiculous, I know. But, it’s…college.)

harvard, yale, and stanford are high reaches, but the rest are easily matches of some sort. (or safeties) have fun leading a successful life!

also, chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/786831-let-me-chance-you.html</a></p>

Thanks!

I’ll chance you back, but I warn you–I’m no admissions director. I honestly have no legitimate credibility in that regard. :P

your SAT score is sexy :). I think you have sick chances at UPenn. Overall great span of work, besides the weak rank. but hey no one is perfect! and Penn isn’t as inhumane as HYP. I hope u get it!

Thanks! Yeah, my rank’s a bit on the weak side, but I’m banking on SAT and EC’s. No matter what, I’m going to stay top 10 percent, so I suppose nothing else can be done in that regard…

Good luck as well!

Yeah ranking is definitely a bit low…what’s your w/uw GPA?

Good ECs though

My school is on a 6 point scale, and I think I have a 5.58 weighted on that. (Honors and AP courses are 6 points, Advanced ones are 5 points).

Yeahhh. I’m hoping Natl Merit’ll make up for that. xD

omg!!! i went to global scholar last summer!!! at washington & lee?!

Yeah, I went the summer after my freshman year. XD
