nothin?

oh, and i forgot a few extra curriculars

writing tutor
NHS tutor
competition marching band

It's good that most of your ECs fall under one of two categories but nothing is really wow. Maybe try to do something with your music or language.

im not bragging by any means but im an all state jazz vibraphonist who has done loads of gigging for charity, and for pay. i dont know what else i could do to make my music co-curricular self more appealing.

and really i spend more time tutoring and doing "its academic" then language.

Alright, so a few things. I wrote my common app essay, and I've had a few teachers and friends read it. I think its very good, and they seem to agree. If anyone would mind reading it here I certainly would appreciate the extra set of eyes. Also, I've decided I am probably going to send in the art supplement, which will be a video or recording of me playing.

I would really like to have a few opinions on whether I should ED or not. Dartmouth is my first choice, but a serious amount of financial aid would be needed (which from what I understand I am eligble for, considering dartmouths 100% need, and my financial position). Do i have a decent shot though? My recs will be personal and well writen, my essay is hopefully good. My courses are about the most challenging I can take at my school, and I have a variety of extra curriculars, with depth and leadership. The only thing I can see hindering me from a decent shot is my standardized test scores.

Your opinions would be much appreciated, and any other info I can provide!

I'll say go for it!

I'm in the exact same boat as you, man. Same SATs, extracurriculars (I play jazz saxophone :P Although you probably have more volunteer work and leadership, I play 3 varsity sports. I was applying to Dartmouth ED also. Just to give you a sense, lots of people have told me that Dartmouth is a good reach school, but that it might be better to apply to a harder school ED (which is what I'm doing, Stanford). You might be better off doing the same thing. I've heard I have about a 25% chance RD, 40% ED. You probably have similar statistics. Hope this helps
