...You're most likely in. But I'm almost positive you didn't need me, or anyone on this board for that matter, to reaffirm that.

so you were the president of both the young democrats and teenage republicans? hypocritical much?

btw, everything looks good to me Duke would be lucky to have you. Where else are you applying?

haha re: Teenage Republicans and Democrats

the clubs meet as one, so thats what I accidentally refer to it as sometimes. On the common app it just says YD's.

also applying to:

Emory (safe?), Georgetown, Columbia (haha), Stanford(haha), Princeton (haha) and maybe 1 or 2 more, not really sure

Perfect ACT! And really good SAT's as well..
Sweet, if you are going to apply to Duke ED.. your chances are really good.
If you really think that Duke is your top choice.. apply Early Decision! You will get in and if Duke is your dream school, it will make for a much easier senior year.

You should also get into Emory, Georgetown, and Columbia... especially with 36 ACT.

your academics are amazing, while i think you'll get in to duke ed or not, just watch out about EC's, make sure you focus on that, b/c they don't look too strong, and these schools especially duke value that sort of stuff really high, i mean u should be in, but there are those cases, and this isn't coming from me btw, this is coming from a duke admissions officer whom i spoke to the other day.

great job! as a duke student i'm impressed!

TIP makes a big difference - by applying early w/ TIP and those numbers, you have a strong app.

I'm glad TiP might help, even if they expressly say it doesn't, because it was really a formative experience for me. Also, how would I show how important the EC's are to me? For example, I've written two essays for the short answer on the common app: one about quizbowl and one about robotics. The one about quizbowl is really creative and, at least i think, funny, while the robotics one is pretty standard but explains the dedication I put into it. Should I sacrifice the originality to explicitly show what I've done?

wow that gpa is very impressive considering your courseload. my friend got in with farrrr lesser stats than you, and his only real EC was swimming (he was really good at it though), so just focus on your essays, you should be good
