Hey everyone, so I've been debating with whether to apply ED to Wash U or not (since it's
binding and what not), so I was wondering what would be the best bet for me to get in?

Here are my credentials....

ACT (superscored)-34 (35 english, 35 math, 33 reading, 33 science)
GPA- 3.8 unweighted, 4.44 weighted (expecting to rise this year)
Class Rank- 67/687, very competitive school

AP's
I have taken AP Euro, AP US (I got a 4 on the AP test), and AP Lang (I got a 4 on this as well).
Currently I am taking 6 more AP classes my senior year, along with Advanced Physics and
Avanced Chemistry
I'm taking: AP Literature, AP Econ, AP Gov, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish, and AP Psychology

Activities:
I have always been very involved in sports, and they are a huge part of my life.
-Varsity Soccer team for 3 years
-Varsity Tennis team for 3 years- won conference, team captain, looking to do very well in
state this senior year, and I want to play on the tennis team at Wash U
-NHS
-Health Careers Club

Awards:
-AP scholars
-Business student of the month
-Prairie State Achievement Award for Math and Science

So if anyone could help me decide whether I should apply ED or not, and what are my chances of getting in?
-I've talked to the tennis coach and I'm interested in playing on the tennis team

That worries me. You should only apply ED if Wash U is your first choice; if that’s the case, the fact that it’s binding shouldn’t affect your decision. If you have any reservations at all about applying under a binding agreement, you shouldn’t do it.

@ Ravnz,
Wash U is definitely my first choice, but it’s a big decision considering how expensive it is, and especially since I’m trying to play tennis in college

It’s really hard to say what an applicant’s RD chances are. It is a bit of a crap shoot. There are so many applicants with stellar stats and EC’s that your application has to stand out in some way. You would certainly be in the running.

You seem to have a great chance ED, but that may not be the case RD. The application pool is just too big. If you are hesitant about ED, you can always apply for the merit scholarships during RD to express your interest in WashU so that the adcoms may see you in a better light instead of a student just applying to WashU because it is a top tier school without any real interest in attending. I would say you’re within the range of the type of students WashU targets.
