are these sat's too low for early decision to emory

1910- (1270/1600)
740 math
640 writing
530 reading

most likely pre-med

btw, my extra-curriculars are fine and my recommendations are great so...if that helps

any responses greatly appreciated

No, your GPA and demonstrated interest is more important that your SAT.

ok nice

my gpa is 4.147 and my why emory essay will be just fine

Without a hook, your test scores will raise a red flag to Admissions, particularly the CR score. A huge reach as is Rice, Penn and UVa.

Incidentally, med school is based primarily on college gpa+mcat. Given your SAT & ACT scores, a high mcat maybe extremely difficult.

how do know where im applying and what my major may be

well not my major sorry lol

Don’t listen to bluebayou. The admissions counselors review the full application and decide whether you would make a good addition to the Emory campus. Also, don’t worry about an MCAT score either.

It’t a African American girl that graduated from Emory that had only a 27 on the ACT. She just graduated from Harvard’s medical school.

Your SAT doesn’t really matter. It’s the GPA, demonstrated interest, and the essays that matter. You don’t need a hook. Just a strong application.

I agree with blue bayou…

Hi Quintarrius,

Again, we will not use test scores submitted in April. The latest scores we will use are from January 2009. In terms of an appeal, if you are denied admission, every student has the option to appeal. In the last ten years, only one appeal has resulted in an change in our decision. The greatest amount of weight is given to your class selection and grades; new essays will not outweigh the four years of coursework you have completed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Take care,

ok thanks vandyprayer

Anytime Mets2000. If you need anything or you need some tips, then you can shoot me a PM. I hope that you get in. Don’t show any weakness in your application. I had a low standardized test score, but I made sure that everything else in my application was stellar.

Hi, son wants to apply but his GPA is not that great. SAT’s are good and he wants to do Information Management and Math. His Math scores are 800 in both SAT 1 and 2. GPA is 3.5, He has not visited so its ED is not a true option.
