I've even all over the place lately trying to figure out which college I should apply early decision 1 to. Grinnell has been one of my top choices for a while and the more I looked into it I think it would be my best fit. It may be a reach due to my crappy unweighted GPA but I hope I have a shot
I'll have taken 10 AP classes, duel credit class and 12 honors classes in total.
My GPA is 4.2 weighted 3.3 UW( I know that's awful but it's mainly due to a rough second semester junior year when my dad's drug addiction was really bad and we had other family issues. I have put this info in my common app but I know it's not an excuse)
•Class rank: 155/640 24 percent
•Senior year classes: AP Physics C, AP Literature, AP Calc AB, AP biology, AP Environmental, AP macro and AP Gov
SAT 1450( 760 cr, 690 m)
Extracurricular:
•I have been a member of HOSA 3 years and am more involved this year,
•I'm a member of TSA,
•I'm an officer in best buddies and help with the life skills class every day for my seventh period.
•I'm also a member of of my county's health corps.
•My family fosters dogs for a rescue group and I have been involved with that throughout high school
Work:
•Summer internship with Sundance fuels company. I worked 40 hours a week for 10 weeks
• now I'm hired by the district as a peer tutor
Is there a

*a decent chance for me or should I not get my hopes up?

Grinnell looks at more than numbers. Visit if you can. Talk to your admissions counselor. ED states a strong interest so it does seem to help in the process. Worse case you’re deferred which gives you a chance to show growth.

Numbers wise, you do have a shot but like the above poster said, Grinnell puts a lot of emphasis on the fit - if you feel like you have something to contribute to the community, and you would feel at home there, that’s going to help your application a lot if you let it show through
