Chances?? Engineering Major, transferring to UCLA/UCI

Hey..

Major: Mechanical Engineering
Term: Winter 2009
Campus: UCLA/UCI

I have a GPA of 3.76 with A's in all the important major preparatory courses like physics, chem, math and computer sci. I felt my personal statement wasn't all that flattering though. And i'll finish all the required courses by this fall.
Applied for the winter semester, i'll know it by next month.

what do u guys think??

Looks good!

I remember taking mechanical engineering in the 7th grade and realizing how much a b1tch measuring became.

GPA looks solid

EC's have not been mentioned

looks pretty solid to me. average gpa for admits to UCLA was around 3.66. write great essays are ur golden. do you work or have any ECs?

Oh, and did it take you three years to transfer or just two?

It actually took me 1.5 years for me, including this fall, to finish the classes and transfer.
I do have EC'S and community services.. but very few though to make a difference.

1.5 for an engineer major? Did you have a lot of AP credit?

I had AP credit for calculus.. so i was exempt from taking 1st semester calculus. These are my term units, 07 summer (12 units), 07 fall (13), 08 winter (6), 08 spring (16), 08 summer (5), 08 fall (16). I was also able to finish the GE req. of an engg. major.

What kinda classes did you take in the summer and winter sessions? I'm thinking of taking calculus and physics, but I think the material may be too much in the 6 weeks to really grasp the material.

Also, did you not apply to Berkeley because they don't have winter admission?

I took chemistry in 08 summer. But in the previous winter and summer sessions i took english and GE's like anthropology, cinema and stuff like that.
I dont know if u can take physics, but u can definitely take chemistry and calculus. If the professor is good, just take it.

Berkeley didnt open admissions for winter... that was a letdown for me.
