Intended Major:
Business or Economics

Again, thank you very much!!

i think you have a pretty good chance for economics. i’d say match, low reach (but i usually don’t do these chance threads, so what do i know). we don’t have a business major - we do have managerial economics, though, which is close. man econ is more impacted than econ though.

Apply to a lot of colleges… it’s only $50 a pop… chump-change considering how much college costs. Don’t do what a lot of people do by only applying to colleges on your wish-list… also apply to some 2nd and 3rd choice colleges. There are some great State Universities out there, like Cal Poly SLO… has a great econ program.

That said, as the previous poster mentioned… UC Davis is not really a Business school… it’s more of a Math and Science school. Do a lot of research on your colleges you are interested in. Use US News Colleges web site… lots of good stuff there.

Best of luck!

You have a good gpa and ranking. Can you send the ACT score and not
the SAT?

Yeah, a lot of people have been telling me to not send in either of my SAT scores. Does it really drag my application down?:[

The 30 ACT score is equivalent to around a 1980 SAT. So submitting a lower SAT
score than 1980, I think would be counter-productive. Also my opinion - since the
SAT II’s are not required anymore, I wouldn’t submit them unless they were at least
650 and/or ‘recommended’ for your major. Keep in mind that if you submit anything from the college board (meaning SAT score), all SAT scores will be submitted. You can’t
pick and choose just one subject test or one particular sitting.

Bump!! Thanks everybody! Any other opinions?

I got in off waitlist with an SAT 1 score of 1780.
Our ECs are basically the same (minus the JROTC).
I would say that it would be best that if you did some extracurriculars under the category of national or state, then put it over local. Also, make sure to pick a good, unique topic for the personal statements. Don’t make them too cliche also because I’m sure the admissions board gets tired of reading the same thing over and over again.

Also, your major plays a huge factor in admission. If you pick a large major like psychology, then your chances diminish because of the competitive candidates. That being said, I would say economics is one of the more popular majors.

All in all, scrap the SAT scores, go with the ACT scores, then write phenomenal personal statements.

Good luck!

I got in with a 1750SAT/Less EC’s/Much lower class ranking and GPA than you so I’d say you have a very, very good chance!

Thanks guys!! I hope my essays are unique…:0!
