Hi,
well it’s hard to really chance anyone at this point because as you may or may not know in previous years UCSD has used a points system and I believe they are switching over to a more holistic review process.

Your scores aren’t that horrible. Don’t send the SAT score because it isn’t great…but the ACT score isn’t bad…i believe a 30 translates to around a 2000 sat? I had a similar score( a 31 or 32 i don’t even remember) but I had a 31 in science and a 12 essay( 32 english) 35 reading…and a crappy math score like yours Remember that the average is a 29 so you are above the average accepted ucsd student :)

You could have taken more ap tests( in regards to how many others take, i’m sure its possible you weren’t allowed to), but your senior year looks extremely rigorous so that should help

Your SAT 2s need improving( you still have time) however I have heard that they are no longer even needed…so maybe you don’t even have to send them

It looks like your gpa is going to go up significantly( well your UW is great)…unfortunately uc gap is 10th/11th grade…still don’t worry too much your gap is pretty good( above their average) and they take into account how many aps your school offers…but apply to some schools that take into account 12th grade( you might be able to get into some ucsd+ quality schools this way)

Everything else looks really good, see if you can get a couple more leadership positions…this is really easy “hey friend with random club, can I be vp or treasurer? Thank you friend with club”

UCSD doesn’t have a business school so its a horrible place for you if you want that…but its ranked VERY HIGH in econ :)

You are better off than you think apply to as many schools as possible( all the higher tier ucs+ plus some lower tier ivy/pseudo ivy…you never know you might get lucky)…apply to a bunch of match schools( I’d say Davis/UCSB/UCI)…and find a couple safeties( 2/3) where you know you would be happy going anyways :)

Good luck! I know it’s a scary time but you can do it, we all do :)

I had a 31 ACT, 650 lit 640 chem SATIIs, 1970 SAT, 4.2 GPA, multiple activities (varsity swim, club swim, and then drama tech/rehearsals for 21+ hours a week) and I was still denied at UCSD. I appealed, though, and was then accepted later.

On the other hand, I know people with 24~26 ACTs and ~1600-1700 SATs that got accepted to UCSD. UCSD is pretty strange. You might get lucky. I know tons of people here who got denied at UCI but got admitted to UCSD (even one got Regents, here). At the same time, I know people going to Berkeley who were denied at UCSD. The UCs in general don’t really make much sense. Best of luck!

I got into SD with really low scores this year. 1780 SAT, 4.0 weighted, barely any awards or honors, a few ECs, decent community service. Nothing above average. Got denied from UCB, LA of course but got into D, I, SB, SD, SC luckily

You should never not apply somewhere because you think you might not get in. If you don’t apply to UCSD your chances are ZERO. If you apply you have a chance. Here’s a REALLY rough breakdown of what my stats were.

SAT: 1830
SAT 2: Math: 620
Biology: 590
Chemistry: 560
GPA: I honestly never remembered it. I got all As and 4 Bs in AP classes. Whatever that adds up to.

AP Classes (my school offered 6):
Biology
Calculus AB
US History

Rank: 14 out of 315
EC: Lots of sports and CSF
Volunteering: Pretty much zero

That being said, you DEFINITELY should apply if you think you might want to go here. And outside of that there’s nothing we can really tell you to increase your chances.

^ whaaaat. my stats are nearly identical to kingselite. except i took four or five more ap classes, did volunteering, and had a few more B’s before final senior year semester i think.

i would definitely apply, i mean why not? unless app fees is an issue for you.
make sure your essays are killer too. i think that’s why i got in, anyways.

not bragging or anything really…i just didnt think my grades/scores/ECs were that great compared to others who applied and didnt get in…so i figured it mustve been my essay that they really liked since i cant compare my essay to others’…which kinds of shocks me…my ap english teacher totally bagged all my essays senior year):

Ucsdlee: do you think you could help read over my essays then? Just a sentence or two of feedback and that would be AMAZING! I’m really struggling with the essay part!:[

And thank you all everybody else, you have given me a LOT of encouragement, and I am definitely applying!!

apply apply apply!!! I love ucsd <3
I had a 2310, 3.7 UW, 4.15 W and many extra curriculars, but not much leadership. But I have friends with significantly lower GPAs and Sat scores get in too. And friends who got into cal (though for random majors) but not ucsd. So anything is possible really. And make sure you send in only your act score if that’s higher, since they don’t require both. and for subject tests try to find out if sending lower scores would be worse than sending no scores.
Good luck!

“Your SAT 2s need improving( you still have time) however I have heard that they are no longer even needed…so maybe you don’t even have to send them”

That’s correct all UC’s have dropped SAT 2s starting this year.

You have a decent chance getting in to UCSD with your 30 ACT and 4.0plus GPA.

Yeah I’m really trying to find out of low SATII or no SATII is better because well even with the low scores, maybe they might see that I at least tried?:0

of course these are just advice from my own personal experience. If you have a question about something i have written feel free to PM me. Ill message you back ASAP When it comes to college applications, asking as many questions and trying to improve on your essays are the best thing to do, as well relaxing yourself :)

Wow that’s amazing; congratulations!! That’s great to know, and I’m definitely applying! I was just wondering what other CC users think about my chances! I’m REALLY nervous!
