Chances? Extremely nervous.

Hi everyone,

GPA: 3.78 (had an awful freshman year but there is an upward trend)
AP Euro (4) AP Chem (5) AP Calc AB (5)
Senior Year: AP Psych, AP Stats, AP Art

SAT I: 2070 (W: 700, CR: 710, M: 660) - retaking in October
SAT II: Chem: 730 Math II: 700

Awards: National Merit Semi-Finalist, AP Scholar

ECs: Art class 5 hours a week, Walk dogs and house sit for pay, Head of Publicity at my school's literary magazine

Summer 2010: Pre-college at Rhode Island School of Design (got decent/good grades)
Summer 2011: 7 week college credit courses at Brown (got an A in one class and stupidly took the other pass/fail... I passed of course but I don't think I can get credit for it)

I know my stats aren't great. I am 99% sure I am applying ED. I'm visiting the campus in early October, which will probably cement my ED choice, and have an interview scheduled.

Thanks.

I’m not seeing anything that stands out. You don’t really have any extracurriculars and your SAT is pretty low.

You have a shot, but there are no guarantees. I’m about to make two statements followed by a conditional: 1. Your GPA is fine 2. Your SAT is fine.

IF…

You are passionate about art and have something to show for it. Maybe write your essay about it. That’s the stuff that sticks out. Show interest and show that you’re different.

ED might not be the best choice for a borderline applicant because the applicant pool is usually very strong. But it may also help you because you are a locked-in applicant. Consider both viewpoints before you make any final decisions.
