Frankly I don’t see any problem with you getting an offer of admission unless you show zero interest outside of applying. With good interest (thoughtful answers to the “Why Tulane” question assuming they use it again, attend Tulane events in your area, visit campus if you can) you should not only get in, but get some merit scholarship money. If you can squeeze out that extra point or two on the ACT, you might get extra merit money.

The only small negative is that your GPA slid each year (although it could almost not go up after freshman year, it would have been a bit stronger if you could have maintained or improved slightly after sophomore year) but it doesn’t strike me as serious at all. Your GPA is strong and you have no C’s at the end of each year, and only 1 C+ in total. And really it was only first semester junior year, so not that big a deal.

Congrats on an outstanding high school career so far.

Fallenchemist,

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I just sent in my application in a few days ago and made sure to spend a lot of time on the “Why Tulane?” essay. I cannot wait to see if I get accepted. As always you were an unbelievable help.

Thanks so much! (And say some prayers for me, haha)

Are you applying for Dean’s Honor Scholarship? With those essay contest wins you could probably come up with something pretty good.

I’ll have to look up the Dean’s Honor Scholarship! Also, I’ve been trying to find out when Tulane releases EA decisions, but I can’t find any info. Any ideas?

I’ve read online that often when you apply before their admissions office gets too hectic (which I’d assume would be toward the middle or end of October), you’ll usually receive a decision within 2 or 3 weeks of your application being marked as complete.
