Chances for 16-year-old asian

HELLO. I am applying to about 15 schools, and I am wondering what my chances would be. If anybody can give a chance for any of these schools (preferably all, but I don't expect everybody on here to want to do that :P)

The colleges and universities I am applying to are:
REACH SCHOOLS
University of Chicago
Harvard College
Stanford University
Columbia University
Washington University in St. Louis
Rice University (applied ED, denied :( )

SCHOOLS I CAN EXPECT TO GET IN IN TERMS OF SAT AND GPA
University of California at Los Angeles
University of California at Berkeley (maybe reach?)
University of Washington
University of Southern California

BACKUP SCHOOLS
University of Colorado at Denver
University of California at San Diego

BACKUP-BACKUP SCHOOLS
University of California at Merced
University of Denver
University of Cincinnati
SUNY Buffalo (maybe)

Here are my stats:
*Highest SAT is 1820 (taken twice; highest combination of scores possible is 1870)
*ACT of 25 (34 on English and 27 on Math)
*Unweighted GPA is ~3.84
*Weighted (cumulative) GPA is ~4.56
*The only EC's I have include participation in the National Society of Leadership and Success (3 years), 8 hours of community service for Habitat for Humanity, and 6- or 7-year participation in the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP).
*I am a 16-year-old Asian-American male junior in high school at an early college (basically a college in the high school-type school). The program is supposed to take 5 years, but I will finish in 3 due to the extra classes I have taken to get out early. I will be 16 when I graduate in May, and will also be the first person from my school to do so (I didn't include that on the application, idk why). Also, by the time I graduate, I will already have an AA degree (I was told to apply as a freshman but that I would go into college as a junior. Idk what happened there).

If anybody can help, that would be joyous. Thanks.

U Chicago: High reach
Harvard: High reach
Stanford: High reach
Columbia: High reach
WUSTL: High reach
UCLA: High reach
Berkeley: High reach
UWA: High match
USC: High reach
UCSD: Reach
CU-Denver: Safety
UCM: Low match
U Denver: Low match
U Cincinnati: Safety
UB: Low match

High reach means unreachable here… perhaps you can change one of the Ivies for Bowdoin and there, do not send ACT/SAT scores.

Thanks. Do you think UCSD is actually a reach school? Also, the average acceptance scores for UW are a bit lower than mine, but the EC’s might be a problem. Yet, I still believe UW is a good school and relatively easy to get in to.
PS-What do you mean by “Low” and “High” match?

Here are some additional facts that may be useful:
*Class rank is 1/27
*Max GPA possible is ~4.6
*Income is <$25,000

Your SAT is quite low, but UCSD is likely a high match/low reach. It will really depends on the quality your essays. What is your UC GPA?

Is my SAT score low for the Ivy League schools or in general?

Yes, especially because you are Asian.

Your score is low in general (at least in CC context). I always appreciated it when people were straight up with me here so I will do the same for you. As is right now, you have absolutely no chance whatsoever of an Ivy League education with your statistics. Believe it or not, it hurts you because you are Asian…

I do hope things work out for you. If you aren’t a senior yet, retake the SAT & ACT after extensive practice and come back in a year and post your results.

Please chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586220-welcoming-any-all-chances.html</a></p>

I thought the Asian thing was a race joke. :open_mouth:
Anyways, I will be graduating AS A JUNIOR, and thus, the third year will be my last year in high school.

Not to be insensitive or anything, but it appears as though the best ethnicity to be for college admissions would be a Jewish black Chinese man who speaks Spanish.

Schools like Harvard and Stanford practice affirmative action, so it’s more difficult for Asians to be accepted there. On the other hand, some schools such as Caltech and the University of California System do not have have such policies, which explains the high percentage of Asians in the student body.

PS, chance back maybe? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586531-will-chance-back-chances-mit-berkeley-upenn.html</a></p>

Wow. I had no idea affirmative action even existed in those schools. I only thought that the UC schools had many Asians because they are on the West Coast, and thus, closest to Asia.

I’d say your chances are roughly 0 for the ivies.

Eh. I thought I might not get into the Ivy Leagues whatsoever. Hopefully, I’ll get into the UC schools or the UW schools, right guys? :D

If this is not a trolling thread, you are poorly informed. You have around 2/3 of the schools on your combined list being reach.
