I am also wondering if going to cornell for the 8-wk program will improve my application

(p.s. i don't know my sat/act yet)

Thanks in advance

It looks solid (or possibly quite strong) to me. But then college admissions process is quite random so I do not know what will happen

well vircabutar, I honestly do want to help you and all.

But the thing is... I really don't know.

The sad truth about asking chances is the fact that I am not an admissions officer and therefore lack the knowledge and insight to give you an appropriate response. I don't think very many admissions officers post on these boards, and I highly doubt any of them would give you a chance evaluation at their respective school.

I've just been through the college app process myself and have gotten some strange results.

For example, rejected at Brown but wait-listed at Harvard.

Accepted to Cornell UVA out of state but wait-listed at JHU (is JHU more selective than UVA out of state? I would think it isn't but I don't know for sure)

I would agree by saying is it very solid, but it really comes down to the type of person you are and if you are the type of person that the college is looking for. You'll encounter the fact that all colleges look for different things in people, so you can never be positive that you are going to get in or not. Little less serious side note...you can get in NHS sophomore year? At my school its junior year and senior year :( . And damn u sure like to be secretary lol. Congrats on the great work!!!

Thanks a lot for the input everybody.
I really appreciate it ^_^

You seem to be blowing me out of the water in regards to academics, and I got in to Engineering, so you have a great shot.

I was:
(SAT)
Math: 790
Verbal: 630
Writing: 650

GPA: 3.84 (Non-Weighted)

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to school work, and most of my lower grades were a result of late assignments (mainly cause i procrastinate and never do homwork). But I made most of it up through extracirricular activities.

Colleges really like to see you in clubs, but in LEADERSHIP positions. Anyone can be in 10 clubs, but being a president or an officer in a handful is what is usefull. I also had been doing science research for 3 years, which is a great boost for anyone looking for a sci/math major.

Main EC's Summary:
Captain on Track/Field Team (on it for 4 years running)
Treasurer in Two Clubs
Committee Head in Another Club for 3 Years
Lead Layout and Graphical Designer for Yearbook

Colleges also like some active participation in clubs as well. Just being a Sectrtary won't cut it. Describe a large project your club may have undertaken in, in which you helped.

Yea, I'm trying to run President and V.P. for all the clubs next year
Thanks for the advice.
Btw, what was that research you were doing?

Well I did my main research this year at a university, which has a prestigious science research program. I spent about a good 3-4 months going there (every weekday for the whole summer) for about 8+ hours a week, not including the 2.5 hour commute. It was rigorous work, but it showed committment on my part, and really got good results.

In summary, my project focused on a new form of gas transportation in the form of a gas hydrate, which is a solid crytalline structure of gas and water. It focused on increasing the efficiency and getting a better understanding of it (since it is a relatively new process)
