Chances for 2010 RSI acceptance

Going in as a junior next year, will be applying. please chance me for RSI. I know its difficult to do so because the acceptance rate is so small and it depends alot on how good the other people who apply are, but please still chance me. I'm from Arizona.

STATS:
GPA: 4.0
Rank: 1 out of 580
SAT 2 Math: 780
AP Calculus BC: Took as a sophomore, most likely 5 or worst case 4
AP Computer Science A: Took as a sophomore, most likely 5 or worst case 4
Note: Havent taken PSAT or SAT yet but I know that they are crucial and I fully intend to try to nail them.

LEADERSHIP:
VP Math club and KEY community service club for junior year. Held a lot of positions during sophomore year, but narrowed it down to those two.

COMMUNITY SERVICE:
Alot of it

PIANO:
Been playing since 3 years old, won a couple prestigious state competitions here and there.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
Internship at the arizona state university in materials science under 2 very good professors. Worked on an interesting project during the year and submitted it in the state science fair

State Science Fair:
• 1st place in Materials and Bioengineering
• Grand Prize winner, qualifying project to compete in Intel ISEF
• Sponsor Awards:
» Research Paper 2nd Place in Society for Technical Communication Writing Competition
» National Society of Professional Engineers & Professional Engineers in Industry – Innovative Engineering Award for Most Outstanding Engineering Project
» ASM Materials Education Foundation Award for Most Outstanding Exhibit in Materials Science
» United States Navy – Naval Science Award
» United States Army Award
» United States Air Force Award for Outstanding Science or Engineering Fair Project
» Invitation to I-SWEEEP 2009 Competition

Bottom line, swept away the state fair with 7 sponsor awards (out of like 15) and 2 grand awards (the 1st place and grand prize). I also won an award called "Governors Celebration of Innovation - Future Innovators Award" which means they thought my project was one of the best of all the 1st place winners at the state fair (and I get to go to black tie event to meet with governor but I dont know if I can write that on my app)

Intel International Science Fair (ISEF):
• 4th place internationally in Materials and Bioengineering

That's pretty much it.

Hmm, seems like a ■■■■■, but if you got earned 4th in ISEF your most likely in as most students use their RSI projects for Intel.

4th place means top 10 projects in category, which about 30% of ISEF participants get=]

It’s actually 25%, and you didn’t answer my question.

Of course you have a chance.

but that’s all you can have with RSI. No guarantees. A lot depends on your essays. my advice is to pour your heart and soul into them; pure professionalism isn’t the way to go with the application.

Work on your essays!

HOPEFUL!! you went to RSI!!! omg omg youre so lucky (i mean you prolly deserved it like anything) RSI is my dream, if i can get into RSI i’ll be soo happy!!! Im hoping that because im from arizona its not as hard as like california or new york

lol, hopeful1992 - is that you?!!. Hows RSI? lol cant believe this thread started so late!

i think hopeful is currently at RSI
