No SAT IIs yet, I'll get them done I promise lol. Probably taking Math IIC, Biology, Chemistry, and US History.

Awards & Honors

Various academic competition awards, just came to a school that did this recently, so only at regional level so far.

Top Student Award (11): Teachers deliberate over who is awesome. Apparently I am.

Community Service

50 hours @ local homeless shelter: I hold a management/leadership postion, that's all you're getting for leadership but I think it's cool that it wasn't picked by my peers who think I'm good looking.

+/- 200 hours tutoring

Local Hospital: Going to apply as a volunteer over winter break.

Extracurricular Activities

Music (my "passion"): I've been playing for ages, have a tape of awesome compositions on both instruments.

Academic team(11-12): I do math, science, and computer science. Only was able to start this year because I'm at a new school.

Other clubs: Habitat for Humanity (10-12), National Honor Society (11-12, only time you can get in at my school), Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society.

Random Hooks: Extremely attractive, rarely study, totally charming. Okay those were just a joke since I don't have a five page list of ECs like everyone else here.

Possible Majors: Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Mathematics, or Music.

Colleges (accepted/waitlisted/rejected?):

Dartmouth ED
Brown EA
Harvard (legacy)
Princeton
Amherst
Brandeis
Oberlin (music)
Reed College
Rice
Washington University in St. Louis
Northwestern
Georgetown
Tulane

Do Harvard ED and do something that makes u an indivdual from now until next fall

Thanks, why Harvard ED specifically?

Anyone want to do the accepted/waitlisted/rejected thing for me? I'd appreciate it.

I'll reply to your threads if you reply to mine.

Hola? Como estas mis chances?

You have an excellent shot at every college you listed. No worries.

haha "+/- 200 hours" does that mean u did approx 0 hours of tutoring with a margin of error of 200? jp ;)

i didn't know brown had EA...

The AP Spanish + "como estas mis chances" leads me to believe that maybe your AP classes aren't as difficult as they seem. :)

I wish I could write awesome compositiiiiiiooooooooooooooooonssssssss that would totally be my hook.

Your ECs are severely lacking, but Harvard is always huge with legacies (especially ones with active alumni legacies), so I'd say you have a good shot. Princeton is unlikely though...but you have a shot at everywhere else.

I don't think you would have much trouble getting accepted by Oberlin College. Admission to Oberlin Conservatory is highly dependent on your audition (or review of your compositions if you are interested in a composition major) and it is extremely competitive in some depatments, so no guesses there unless you care to share more about your musical experience. If you are interested in a performance major, you need to check out the requirements for your instrument and start working up those audition pieces now.

You can do a BA in music in the college (no audition required) that involves roughly 25% music courses and 75% everything else, or a BM in the conservatory that reverses those percentages.

To clear some things up: Brown is ED, Harvard is SCEA. You have solid chances anywhere, but your essays and ECs must make you stand out in schools with lots of awesome applicants like Princeton, and for a lesser extent for you, Harvard.

I think that you have a decent chance at the Ivies. They are just so hard to get into, but I think that you are qualified. I agree with the previous poster about that excellent essay.

Thanks. Anyone have any opinions on specific schools?

Anyone?????????????

Don't let me die lol.

Teacher's give you a Top Student award after only 3 months into the school year? Anyways, you have a good shot at Harvard because of your legacy status. And here's an essay tip: don't write your essays sounding as arrogant as you did in your post.

Now let's not be negative. You can be negative about my chances if that's honesty, but refrain from ad hominem. I don't recall ever being arrogant in my almost purely statistical post.

However, if you disagree, I'm not discussing that anyway, just don't reply. This is a thread about my chances, not what you think of me personally.

Thanks for your reply though. I'll try to sound less arrogant somehow.

It doesn't get much better than a 4.78 GPA and a 2340 SAT! You have time to do a bit more comm service...just write great essays and you can go anywhere. Actually, you could probably cut some schools that you are less interested in to save some application $; 13 schools is a little more than you'll need. Best of luck and congrats in advance!

Any ideas for reach schools?

What about Cooper Union? I could use not having to pay for college.
