Chances for a Bright, Outgoing Student with crappy grades

Hello Everyone. First Post. I would really appreciate it if I got an objective evaluation of my chances at the given schools.
A. Johns Hopkins ED - Really love this school and the atmosphere (not to mention the excellent science programs)
B. RD- Cornell, Boston University, NYU, TCNJ, Rutgers, Rochester

I also have quite a number of questions that you can feel free to answer.
1. How will my ethnicity affect my chances?
2. What other schools should I be applying to? I need more matches and reaches. (Interested in Pre-med)
3. How can I improve on my chances?
4. Any advice also welcome

Thanks everyone.

Anyone have an idea of my chances at given schools? What other schools have strong pre-med programs?

I want to chance you I really do, but your title just turned me off when you said you had CRAPPY grades. Ill chance you anyways because I think you mean in the context of the schools you want to gain admission to? Am I right? Anyways:

John Hopkins: Low reach. (try to get to 2000+)
NYU,TCNJ,BU: Matches.
Cornell: reach
rutgers: safe match.

Yeah, sorry i didnt mean that. Actually I regretted writing that title and wanted to change it but I don't have that option. I agree its not "crappy" but I was relatively disappointed in myself in the grades department, knowing my potential. And your assumption is also right. Well yeah, I appreciate the chances. Any other schools I should be looking at?

crappy? i beg to differ...

Yeah that was stupid of me, sorry. Didn't mean that, retrospectively.

John Hopkins: Low reach. (try to get to 2000+)
NYU
Cornell: reach

I will say you have a decent chance to all schools:

TCNJ(100% chance) and Rutgers(100% chance): easily accepted, maybe some scholarships as well.
BU(95% chance): will be also accepted, but don't expect much aid
Cornell(75% chance, 35% chance for engineering): you will get into all colleges except if you go for engineering.
NYU(80% chance): should get in, but beware, few scholarships, very expensive (50K)
John Hopkins(70% chance): will also get in

Apply to all 6, also look into Northwestern and Duke. You have a 30-40% of getting into those

3.97 weighted guys....
with the ap rigor i dont think his gpa was that great..
despite that i think your main problem is your ec's not so much the sats
no offense but you seem very generic and your volunteer hours...15?10?
why bother mentioning those.. it seemslike you didn't care about them at all

irap3pillows, thanks for the insight. I am currently volunteering at most of those places so the final numbers may change. Do you recomend I just consolidate all those numbers into volunteering at hospital/nursing home and tutoring hours. I can't really explain it but I guess you can call me fickle with my volunteering. Suggestions? Honestly, I feel I am a bit naive about the whole process so I could use any help I get.

EDIT: Commended PSAT (2080), if that makes any difference

Given your current stats:

Johns Hopkins ED - low reach
Cornell - low reach
Boston University - low match
NYU - low match
TCNJ - safety
Rutgers - safety
Rochester - low match

Northwestern would be a reach and Duke a big reach.

Thanks man. I wonder what other schools I should be looking at? Is my list fina as is?
