All the CA schools you list are safeties for sure. Your GPA and SAT scores scream 40 to 45% chance at HPYS (average is 10%), but your ECs aren't really HPYS calibre, so that knocks down your chances to about 30%. Still, my guess is you'll get into at least one of the four. If you're a math or science whiz - and if that's what you're interested in majoring in - you could do yourself a favor and get involved in one of the national math or science competitions. Intel, AIM (I think that's what it's called), Science Olympiad, Math Olympiad, etc. Win one of these things on the state level or place well on the national level and you will really boost your chances.

By the way, you might want to consider schools other than HYPS, MIT, the other Ivies etc. Washington University in St. Louis is a great school. So are Rice, Duke, and U of Chicago. If you want a smaller, liberal arts college type of school, you might want to look at Amherst or Williams. Lots of good schools out there. You should look around before committing yourself.

well that's the thing. i hate math and science. I was going to major in psychology. haha people said it was a cake major, so i was like why not, since i wanna enter the field of law and everything. english is my thing. and oh yeah i don't think my extracurriculars stand out at all, it's just like any other kid. so yeah, iuno. im low income if that helps? family make 5,000 a year?

Cool, another Asian who isn't in love with math and science! We should be friends. ;) Your grades and stats are superb and your ECs are solid. USC and UCLA are likelies. The others are all up in the air (as they would be for most people) since they have tons of qualified applicants, but your excellent scores put you ahead of a lot of the applicant pool. Have you thought about Northwestern or Johns Hopkins? JHU actually has a great English program, which a lot of people don't know about. I would think that Northwestern and JHU would be matches for you.

I'm not in love with math and science either!!! I hate science and math is like meh. Whatever. We should all be friends and start the "I'm asian and I'm not in love with math and science" Club.
