you have a really good shot. ace your SATs and keep your class rank high.

also, don't be Indian. Less deserving minorities need your spot, I'm afraid

:( I am an Indian...

lol, you definitely have great chances....

w00t, the best chances thread I ever had :D

oh btw I am applying for aid... I know it will ruin my chances to some extent.. but since Dartmouth claims to be need blind I will keep my hopes high! ;)

I really don't think applying for aid matters in regards to your admission. I did that and I had much less impressive stats; I got in anyway.

now that is music to my ears :D

err...I am an international merecat, are you?

Dartmouth is not need-blind for international students , so it matters if you need aid .... sad but true...

well i saw on the site that Dartmouth meets the needs of students it admits even intls. so what you are now saying is my chances are considerably less now that I am asking for aid? :(

There is a difference between meeting the need of admitted students and being need-blind.

Being need-blind means that your ability to pay won't be a factor in deciding whether you will be admitted. Unfortunately, Dartmouth is not need-blind for international students which means that if you ask for financial aid your chances of admissions will be lesser. However, Dartmouth will meet your full need if you are admitted.

Here's what dartmouth.edu says about this :

"Due to the limited resources available for financial aid, Dartmouth must take the financial resources of international applicants into account when making admissions decisions."

"Dartmouth College does not have enough financial aid for every talented and needy foreign applicant. Some difficult decisions must be made at the end of the international review dictated, in part, by the limited budget for foreign nationals."

However, keep in mind that only a handful of colleges are need-blind for international students. Harvard , MIT ,Princeton, Yale and Middlebury are the only ones I know of. Other Ivy schools like UPenn , Columbia , Cornell are also NOT need-blind for internationals.

However, the Student Assembly at Dartmouth is pushing for making it need-blind for internationals. http://thedartmouth.com/2007/02/21/news/internatl/ Lets hope they succeed.

Ok I get it.

NOW tell me my chances :D :D :D

B>>>u>>>m>>>p

in............

hehe just year left we shall see :D

Does it really help if you apply ED? And can an International seeking aid apply ED? Its almost a full fee waiver... :(

mit and middlebury are need blind but your chances of getting in are severely reduced just because youre international. They work on the principle of equitable international admissions, yes, but they compensate for the money required to meet internaitonals' needs by admitting a much smaller number of internationals. Harvard, princeton and yale are the only true schools that don't discriminate against internationals.

it helps a lot of if you apply ed (ed acceptance rate : 29 %, rd acceptance rate : 11 percent)
