Can you chance me (safety, match, reach) for the following schools? If you can, giving me tips on how to improve my chances would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to retake the SAT so if you can think of ways to get me in without retaking that would be great. If not, just give me whatever you got. Suggestions for schools would also be helpful! I am a California resident, so all of my choices are out of state. The following stats are what I expect to have come graduation.

SAT: 1700 (500 CR, 580 M, 620 R)
GPA (UW): 3.8+
AP: Government, Calculus, English lang
Sports: 2 years of water polo
EC:
100+ hours of community service/volunteer work
Part-time job (year round)
I'm also graduating a year early if that helps me at all

I'm thinking about applying to:
The Ohio State University
University of Washington
Rutgers University
Penn State
Texas A&M
University of Texas at Austin
American University
Ball State

Your SAT score is unfortunately pretty low… definitely retake
Your extracurriculars are also a tad lacking; try to add in clubs, activities, etc besides just volunteer and sports.

The Ohio State University- high match
University of Washington- match
Rutgers University- low reach
Penn State- low reach
Texas A&M- match
University of Texas at Austin- reach
American University- low reach
Ball State- match

Retake your SAT definitely. You mentioned you’re graduating a year early. Have you thought of taking a gap year. I think in the US gap years aren’t very common. It is outside. It serves as a chance to build om your character, get a.job, volunteer and think deeply about what it is you want to do. High school life ia often too rigorous to allow for thorough decision making.

That said, I think most if not all of the school’s listed are reaches because of your SAT score. Try the ACT. I got 2140 in my SAT and tried the ACT and got 35 composite.

Good luck! And please chance me back on my latest thread :)
