Chances for a few schools?

Hello! I’m a junior at a large high school of about 2000 kids in Illinois. I’m applying to Indiana U, UIUC, UMichigan, Cornell U, Princeton U, Columbia U, UIC, Purdue U, Barnard College, Fordham U, Boston U, Middlebury College, and Stanford U.

Age: 16
Gender: Female
Income: 75k
GPA: 4.5W
Class Rank: 4/521
SAT: 1510
SAT 2: Math 2 and Bio M, not taken yet
APs:
Sophomore Year: Stats (5), Physics 1 (3)
Junior Year (Not taken): Calc AB, Spanish, US History, Bio, Physics 2, English Lang, Microeconomics
Senior Year (Not taken): English Lit, Chem, Physics C, US Gov

Extracurriculars:

Student Council- Kinda just a filler activity, I mean we have meetings once a week but I personally don’t do much in it.

Soccer- I love soccer. I’m on varsity and I’ve been on the All-Conference second team. I also played a league outside of school for a few years but I don’t anymore.

Theater- I’ve done theater for 3 years. I worked crew for the musical in 9th grade, I had a minor role in the play in 10th grade and worked crew for the musical in 10th grade, and this year I had a major role in the play and will be working crew for the musical.

Culver’s job- I worked at Culver’s (fast food) from the second semester of my freshman year to the second semester of sophomore year.

Internship- I had a minor internship at a small local college over the last summer. I just helped the professor clean and stuff.

Track- I’ve done track since seventh grade. I’m not great but I love track and have won attitude awards.

Chess Club- I joined Chess Club as a freshman and while it’s not a club I take super seriously I enjoy doing it.

Babysitting- I babysit every Friday for a family friend.

Running an online community- I run a community of around 2,000 people interested in academics. I spend a lot of time on this and try to make it better. This is very important to me.

DECA- I just joined DECA this year and while I’ve not done anything super cool in it yet I plan to.

Speech Team- I love Speech. I’ve won 2 competitions with my team and I’ve done it since 9th grade. Our team is one of the best in the state.

Super Bowl- I’m on the History, Math, and Science teams, and I’m a Captain on the History team. I also do Quiz Bowl, and we won our conference title.

Recommendations:

Both are good, hopefully around 8-9/10.

@billcsho 4.0UW and Economics or English, I haven’t decided

Your stats are good. Get 700s+ on those subject tests. Narrow down your EC list and try doing ECs that you can get leadership or awards in. You want to do ECs that are somewhat relevant to each other and your choice of major. You are a pretty competitive applicant

Everything looks very good! Your academics are very impressive. The only issue I take is that (looking at your ECs and stats) I see no indication that you are interested in Economics or English. Perhaps consider taking the English Lit subject test.
Stanford, Columbia, Cornell. Princeton, Barnard and Middlebury are all reaches as they are for any unhooked applicant. Michigan is difficult out of state but you have good stats so I would put it as a high match. BU is also a match and Fordham is a low match. I would expect that you would get into UIUC, Purdue and Indiana. UIC is a good true safety. I think you have a very well balanced list as long as everything is affordable and you really love your safeties. I might suggest exchanging a school (Midd maybe? It seems out of place compared to the other schools on your list) for another target. I suggest taking a look at Northeastern, GW, American, and Macalester as matches.

The thing I notice from the ECs is a lack of leadership and individual excellence (and it just may be that you did not say it). As you get into your junior and senior years, you should consider paring down your list to just what you are most passionate about. You describe your team successes; you want to be able to demonstrate that you were a key person in that success, not just a member of the team. Obviously your stats are strong.

UMich LSA would be a low reach for you.

Thank you all for the input!

I forgot to mention I’m a soccer captain. I want to run for treasurer for DECA but I’m not sure how it’ll work. I have been the #1 scorer on all the academic teams, but I don’t know if I should mention it.

What would some good economics/English ECs be? I’ll take the English Lit SAT test!

I’ll look into NEU, GW, American, and Macalester! I know of NEU being very strong for economics, and I’ll keep researching for more matches.

Again, what should I do to make my ECs stronger?
