I am a high school senior, all done with classes and currently am in an internship with the local Media Group which is in charge of 5 news papers. My GPA is 2.74 and will rise once my English grade is added. I interned at a Veterinarian office for a while, volunteer often for my school, have worked at 2 different jobs, won a metal at a dance competition, and have taken a lot of electives regarding my college major interests. I have taken 3 years of German and 2 years of Spanish, 4 years of English, and science including labs, 5 years of social studies, and 3 years of math. I did chorus for 1 year. I am trying to not take the SATs because I attend a Charter school that does not believe in testing. I had troubled in my freshman and sophomore year with a lot of really bad personal issues and I'm hoping it doesn't stop me from perusing my dream. Do I have any chance of getting into a good 4 year college?

bump… please some advice!

Your GPA is at the low end of most admitted students at four-year universities. If you can explain your situation effectively in your personal statements/essays and get a good ACT score (25+), you still might have a chance.

I was trying to avoid taking SAT/ACT but maybe I will end up having too. Would starting at a community college so I can build a better GPA be a good way to go?
